Congratulations smarty pants! Just wait until you get a nice fat paycheck, then you shall really enjoy the fruit of your labor!! Keep up the good work.

I can't tell you how good this accomplishment makes me feel... I always thought that I was a sub-par student and knew there was something not ticking right in my brain.. now that I am seeing a therapist, Psychiatrist and on meds as of the end of January it's become an easier thing for me. The noise in my head is put in it's place and my focus is so much better... I feel like I can move forward so easily and go further in my education!

SKIES THE LIMIT!! :)

Thank you all for your kind words! Off to get some homework done.. I'll check in soon!

Ritalin.. diagnosed ADHD last year. 6 months of therapy before I was given any meds… which is good. I wanted to make sure I needed them before they were perscribed….

ADHD? Huh. I was thinking (hoping) kids grow out of that.............although I think I know a couple adults who are. I'm glad you got the help you needed. :flowers:

My husband probably has un-diagnosed adult ADHD, he shows all the classical symptoms! He is driving me crazier each day :pullhair::pullhair::pullhair:.

How do I say "finding out you have ADHD is a good news diagnosis" without implying in any way that he is to blame for our marital problems and I think ADHD is the reason?

There are MANY symptoms of ADHD mine include forgetfulness, attention span, focus issues, anger issues, lack of patience, impulse control and lack of concentration. I started by calling a Psychiatrists office for an intake evaluation. The intake manager meeting was about two hours long and we discussed everything that I had going on. I started with therapy and attended that for about 3 months. Then I had an actual appointment with the Psychiatrist.. after a few visits with him he prescribed me ADHD meds.. and they help me TREMENDOUSLY! It really is a process and it's up to the individual to take measurements to help themselves. For instance I KNOW my memory is horrible… so I write EVERYTHING down as soon as I think of it. That way I can't forget… stuff like that helps me out a lot. My mouth tends to get me in the most trouble and I try hard to think before I speak as sometimes I have been know to have verbal diarrhea.

More then anything (for me at least) it's a matter of NOT being in denial, embracing and working through and with your quirks. :9: At least that's what it is for me...

Hey Piggy do your ADHD meds have the added advantage of being an appetite supressant? My son's ADHD meds do that.............the kid never eats when on his meds. :pout:

Congratulations Heather!!!

I was just inducted into PTK too

Except for anger issues (my husband is the most "slow to anger" person I know!), he has all the other traits...When I asked him to write down things before he forget, he took it as an attack of his character..etc. My husband has the gift of the gap too...at a social gathering, he cannot stand silence and feel the need to say something or tell stupid jokes...but he can be the funny friend who make people smile too, so not really a bad thing...

I talked to my husband on the phone last night, as tactful as I could. I try to be very careful and tactful when suggesting that he may have ADHD, because that's definitely considered an insult. I do understand growing up with a mother with mental illness (bipolar) and the stigma of his mother being "crazy" make him trying very hard to shake off the label! However, he is open to see a psychiatrists or therapist but insists he doesn't need medication. :-)

Ironically, he had a hard time adjusting to people with ADHD (his co-workers, our neighbors(both husband and wife!), all were diagnosed with ADHD) and he often said they drove him nuts...i told him "but at least you don't live with them in the same house...or married to any of them"
