When we built our house, we built a special enclosure in the ceiling about 20 feet away from a large wall which we were going to use later on for a home theatre for a projector TV. In checking out the projector TV's, I found an interesting thing. The bulbs in these projectors only last 1000, 1500, or 2000 hours. Well, if you watch TV like I do, then this will average about 5 hours a day, and the 2000 hours (assuming you get maximum bulb life) will be up in about one year. Cost of replacement bulb you ask? Between 400 and 500 dollars! What the crap? How does a light bulb cost $500! Are we missing something here? Also, the projectors, which are about the size of a yellow pages, and weight about 4 or 5 pounds, cost upward near $10,000 or more. Thats about $150 per ounce.
