I've been noticing a trend towards PU leather grips on rackets lately, often touted for their tackiness and comfort. But I'm starting to question if the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, especially for serious players. While the initial grip is undeniably good, I've found that PU grips tend to become excessively sticky and even slimy in humid conditions or after prolonged use, requiring frequent replacement. This seems counterintuitive – shouldn't a grip maintain its performance throughout a match?
Traditional leather grips, while perhaps less initially tacky, tend to absorb moisture better and develop a more consistent grip over time. Are we prioritizing short-term tackiness over long-term performance and durability?
