hey! don't worry. it's not me having computer problems anymore; it's my fil. poor guy was having trouble with his computer so he reformatted. now he can't find the certificate of authenticity to log into windows. anyway we can bypass this screen?

i hope i'm wording this correctly.

Okay, what version of Windows?

Seens as I trust you and know you wouldn't be lying to get an illegal license key, when you tell me what version of Windows I will e-mail you a license key (which is whats needed on the certificate of authenticity) for him.

So, as soon as I know what version of Windows it is I can get you a license key .. :)

Spidergoolash: For the certificate of Authenticity, you need a product key. If you don't have one, go ot a meta-search engine (Dogpile, Metacrawler) and type "Windows x serial" where x is your version of windows.
If you're installing WindowsXP it needs more than that, but info is available as needed. You also need to state which version of XP you're running, If you're a beta tester.

wow! thanks guys! i really appreciate all your help :) i went over there tonite and he actually had it right in front of him, but was typing it in wrong, or something

he was so worried that he wouldn't be able to play his poker game tonite.

Its so "Archie" to do that...he also now has a cell phone that he can't figure out as well :)

Well, I myself am a bit too much of a geek.
I play games, as every real geek does. *Deathmatch!*
I can write code in 7 languages, I'm learning my eighth.
I can build a computer, with the works, and get software installed for the lot, without any errors in under 3 hours.
I can design and program my own prototype boards for PC's. I in fact designed the daughterboard floating around in my case.
Some people *really* need to get a life.
To further the point, consider the fact that I can do all that, at the age of 18

<insert Shogun's post here>

Except replace 18 with 14.

Hehehe, I guess it can all be attributed to the summer of '98. Don't ask.

yeah, he was sweating bullets. i'm amazed he even figured out the reformatting part. now he has a cellphone? man, they didn't even get a push-button phone until three years ago :|

shogun and bob> that's really cool that you know how to do all that stuff. you should be proud of yourselves. i got a migraine just reading it though

Spider: I could be a real sonofabitch and post the core drawing code for my 3D raycasting engine... Read that without getting a migraine. Sometimes it even confuses me. I guess I should comment it a bit more ;)
Dan: What's the forumID for that "Toot your own horn forum"?
If I could relocate to Texas, I would be working at 3DRealms by now.
I actually applied, sent some demo programs, and was told "We're quite impressed with your work, and are willing todiscuss salary and your relocation to texas. Now from Victoria in Australia, Texas is one hell of a drive....

Whoah Shogun, thats good .. my stuff ain't anywhere near good enough to submit to places like 3D Realms .. congrats!

Pity you couldn't move though .. :P

man, personally i think you'd be crazy not to go for it. can't you figure something out? you could always move back home if it doesn't work out, no?

<oh poo, we're getting off topic - maybe we can start another thread in me, me?>
