But people not caring is exactly how a slippery slope starts. If we support trash-radio by listening, then we are giving tacit approval of everything they do! And that includes the aforementioned sexist and racist bits of humor.
Is the damage done to society's morals worth a few fart jokes? I think not.
Let me be clear, these people should NOT be regulated against. They have every right to say what they want in this country. However, it is the obligation of people to use their brains a little and not support things that are bad.
When he is right, he is right. He is right. But getting people to stop listening is just not going to happen. Also, on "to do" lists, I would put them down near the bottom. There is so much other imporant things to do then go after people who enjoy listening to them, LIKE ME. The bottom line is, I consider them harmless. I think they cater to people's naughty side, and if listening to Opie and Anthony is the worst I do in my life, morally, then I am way ahead of the game. Just look at all those people who pirate software. :eusa_ange
i don't listen to the likes of howard stern out of principle, and i dunno who the other guys are so i'll speak only to what i know about stern. i think his show is dangerous to some degree. some people that listen to him are intelligent enough to realize he is joking around, but i fear that he gives positive reinforcement to those that actually BELIEVE the things that he says and i would think that that is the larger part of his audience. as a joke, some of what he says can be funny...i've muttered my share of racist/sexist/anything-ist JOKES, never meant to be hurtful. it's the fact that people listen to his show and believe that what he says is the truth that is dangerous.
i happen to think dirty jokes are the best. i still maintain the ability to read, write, code, and play my videogames... oh yeah, and hold my job. i do all of these on a day to day basis. but let me tell you, fart jokes and dirty humor are still so awesome. i guess for guys, its the 14 year old kid stuck in all of us.

Stern landed a deal becasue he was the first to take what Don Imus did down into new depths of stupidity and poor taste. Opie and Anthony are just doing what Stern does. Find something and make it stupid.
You could take anything one of them does and put it on the other's show and it will be exactly the same. Stern, O+A, all the same and all stupid. IMHO.
Well Opie and Anthony are on XM and Stern will be on Sirius in a few months, so then you guys will get your wish, virtually no one will listen. :eusa_whis
On the other hand, if I'd have to choose between Stern and the ACLU, I'd take Stern in a New York minute.
