Should All British Police Carry Guns?

I based this on the UK because the situation is different here. Of course in the US police need guns when citizens have guns, but in the UK gun crime is very low

In the UK, only Northern Ireland police carry guns routinely. Do you feel our police handle situations affectively without guns? Shall we go out of our way to give guns to all the police or just leave it to the Special Armed Forces?

In the past, many things have gone awry when police have used guns. So I don't think it is a great idea. We don't have the same kind of gun culture places like the US have. I like to think we're a bit more civil than that.

We don't have the same gun culture. But with crime increasing maybe police being more strict and serious would prevent people more from committing crimes?

I think maybe people would be more frightened of them I don't know but I have a feeling people would end up tackling police for their guns and using them. I dislike the idea of anybody having a gun, but criminals do, so I suppose law enforcers having them is something to discuss.
