should religious education be taught in schools?

I really feel religious schools in many cases are dumping grounds for bad kids, just like military schools are. Is this correct? However, why can't public schools handle the situation?

Some schools would argued that they teach religious education because they want to impart morals. Good and fine. They can teach Ethical and Moral studies as a subject and leave religion to be taught in religious centres.
