When I am stoping the exercising - my cholesterol is rocket up, not imediately, but in a two-three weeks I have extremely high cholesterol and begining the weight gaining. The reversal process is much longer and harder, it requests two-three months of exercising to bring my cholesterol to normal level.

Yep, me and my bike are best friends. If the doctor is gorged than the patient feels better.

Yeah! There are something special from UK Times newspaper :

PEOPLE’S bottoms are getting so big they no longer make a suitable target for injections

As it was noticed before, this problem appeared only in Britain ...

 They think that they can poison snowmen with ordinary needle! Big mistake!

Yep, you can got the cancer even if You are using LCD monitor, I don't tell about hazardous CRT tubes

You know, information about cancer and McDonalds is statistical information. That's means that there are no direct relations between these two events : cancer and McDonalds - only statistical ... That's why it is pure brainwashing ... You know, I can collect statistic between the colour of British Queen's cat and amount of pregnant women on the North Pole

And you, guys, trust those peoples who makes money on wrong statistic.

Think it is better just to make heathy foods at home. Going to McDonalds or any fast food restaurant is fine but in moderation. If you ate at fast food restaurants every day and didn't excersise then yes the tire you have around your belly would indeed get bigger.

I watched the movie. It was enlightening but if you think it about it, it's not just Mcdonalds. Even if you only ate at Taco Bell or Burger King for a month or so, similiar events would occur.

After watching it and debating in my brain for a bit, I then went out and bought a huge amount of Mcdonalds food.

Old German proverb: Don't believe statistics that you haven't faked yourself!

You'll probably find statistics that prove any possible outcome of food consumption!

There's a study even that concludes it doesn't matter at all what you eat, as long as you enjoy it!

After the German reunification for instance, there've been studies on the health of East Germans vs. the health of West Germans. And while East Germany was often considered to be a "poor country," the study has shown that East Germans were more healthy despite eating foremost high fat food, like fat meat products, often combined with alcohol; fat cakes, and stuff. The reason was probably that the East Germany ate less industrially processed food than the West Germans. So a fat sausage made by a butcher might be much more healthy than a sausage made in a factory with lots of additives.

And while a McDonalds burger and a slice of buttered bread might have the same amount of calories, the McDonalds burger might be more healthy, because it also contains salad and cheese, for instance. And the number of additives in McDonalds meat and bread are very similar.

Bakeries are often forced to use chemical additives or replacements because of pricing issues nowadays, so even bread isn't healthy anymore, unless you bake it yourself with fresh ingredients.

Etc. etc.

He-he! East people ate less than West, only because of lack of food ... that fact does not need a prove. Just ask old peoples and they will tell You all about food ...

After WWII, that was a problem in ALL of Germany. My mom saw people starve to death in the streets of a big city... my dad picked up leftovers from fields and cooked them with his mom etc. ...

However, prosperity when it came to food was about the same in East and West Germany after the economy gained momentum again in the late 50ies and 60ies.

East Germans didn't lack food in general. I was there a number of times in the 80ies and I didn't have the impression that anyone had to starve. Of course, choices were limited, but of that that was available, there always seemed to be enough. Where my grandma lived, there was a small supermarket nearby, and it was always full of something. I had an aunt who worked in a drink shop, and they had plenty of stuff and even ice cream! :) -- and restaurants were all around as well, and had pretty good food.

Thinks looked MUCH worse after reunification, after everyone lost their jobs in East Germany. And they struggle with unemployment to this day. But their standard of living is slowly returning back to normal.

I'm worried however about the decline of living standard in the West (which was bursting with prosperity in the 80ies and 90ies). There has been major inflation, and people often can't afford to buy proper food anymore . The reason for this is a drop in wages, rising gas prices and taxes, and rising food prices and rents. I'm really scratching my head as to why there have been no uprisings or demonstrations about this.

 You know ... how it was ... everybody has fixed salary ... and it was enough to eat full month ... there was strong limitation in buying ability. That was common for most socialistic countries.

OK we had relatives who were bakers and butchers (and/or friends or acquaintances of them who were), and they always managed to syphon off stuff. So it wasn't really a problem for them.

Ties between people were much stronger back then, and everyone knew someone with access to this or that stuff.

But you're right, everyone said "we don't know what to buy with our money".

I wish I had that problem right now! ;)

EDIT: now I realize what you really meant!! No no, you're right, the salary was low, but the cost of living in general was low; so at least in the GDR, people were able to save lots of money, because they had enough money, but there were not enough things to buy, because either it was too expensive anyway, or it wasn't available. Cars like the Trabant had a delivery time of over 10 years, and color TVs and computers were very expensive, but moderately affordable.

Do you think there should be a surgeon generals warning on mcdonalds products?

Also has anyone seen the movie "super size me"?
I saw the movie 3 months ago, and i havent gone to a Mc.Donald's since.(or any fastfood chain, except subway and potbelly's )
I voted yes, but I think there should be a warning about the surgeon general's boss.

I too have curbed how much I have eaten fast food wise since seeing that movie. First, I cut out McDonalds down to just a handful of times in a few month period. Then I began to cut out fast food as much as possible, but I cannot cut it down all the way. It's just too convenient and tasty at times. However, I still don't eat "well." The food that I buy at the store is almost as bad such as bratwurst, chimichangas, pizzas, etc. Sometimes I go healthier and get pasta and a sauce to go with it. Not that healthy when I buy the alfredos though. Ok, I'm getting off topic.

As far as McDonalds is concerned, their marketing and psychology will overcome movies like "30 Days..." I wondered why I liked red and yellow together so much for years. Then it dawned on me. It was McDonalds colors. It was indoctrinated within me from a very young age from before I can remember. Kids are taken there by their parents because it's fast, they have happy meals, and some have playgrounds inside that the kids can play in year round. These children then grow up with those positive feelings and take their children there as well. It's a cycle.

As to whether there should be a warning, you can, but will it help? I say no. There are already warnings on cigarettes and I think beer as well. That's not curbing anything. They're now talking about putting pictures of blackened lungs, decayed gums, and other pictures of cigarettes damage to the body actually on the packages, or boxes of cigarettes. People say that's far fetched, but I don't see people addicted to cigarettes quitting anytime soon because of this. If you slap a warning on fast food, which people already know as bad, you might be pleasing some people, but you're not changing anything. People already know that it's bad for you. Now, it IS getting better. Less trans-fatty oils are being used, which is a huge start. But you're going to have to start using lower fat ground beef, etc., if you wanna keep it going. Offering salads and other healthy alternatives is good along with bottled water. In the end, most people don't eat the way they're supposed to all of the time and that's not going to change anytime soon. Label or no label, people still want fast, convenient, cheap food that they can enjoy and cheat on their diet with.
