Okay, so my computer was working fine earlier - nothing wrong with it at all. All of a sudden, it had crashed and after restarting my computer my internet connection had completely disappeared. Apparently I all of a sudden have no network adapter - but I had 'Modem'. :rolleyes:

I have looked online for help on my laptop, as my wireless is working fine - but my PC which is connected by an Ethernet cable from my modem hub thing will not even find the connection.
I have even come to the point of restoring my computer to factory settings. Still nothing, but now my device manager no longer contains 'Modem', nothing even related to Network is on there. I found a site which seems to show my problem I have in an image, but it says just powering off by the power plug for 10 or more minutes and going back on should make the 'Network Adapter' driver return to my device management list.

I'm currently waiting for my computer to sort it's life out, but was wondering if anyone here could give me a hand as I do not think a simple turning off will work when a system restore to factory settings won't.

AGH!

Ethernet cable could be ****ed? I wouldn't factory set your laptop when the issue seems to be either coming from the modem or the cable its self. Tried resetting the internet? < First point of call me sometimes.

I have reset the internet and swapped the Ethernet cable for new and unused one.
The PC needed a huge clear out anyway with all of my mums junk that she downloads and I did back up my files. :)

There's nothing else I can think of unless doing what you were going to do google alllways ends up with an answer 99.9% of the time.

I feel slightly silly now, turning it off by the plug for ten minutes worked. ;_;
After everything I tried - as soon as it came back on it popped up saying about the driver being installed and voil?. After all of that anger and time.
I just need to stop my OS from turning off devices after 'Deep Sleep mode' or something to avoid the problem in future.

Thank you for your help, however. :)

If anyone has the problem, there's a possible answer - simply turn it off by the mains for ten minutes... :mad:

Glad it's fixed if when was the last time the pc was defragged? Mine get's one a month. I'm just in the process of fixing my 3.5.net framework keeps failing on me just cleaned the lot out and is installing.

Not for a very long time. Eek. :=s:
I'm terrible when it comes to defragging.
