Have you ever bought any stocks/shares in the stock market or do you not like to make those risks? If you have how much money have you made or do you still own those shares?

I've checked it out a couple of times but I havn't bought any stocks...as yet. Would love to one day be able to buy a stock in a company and then sell it for massive profit one day. I'm just scared about the risk of losing your investment tbh though :/:

I think it's too risky and calculating for me, I'd rather use the money somewhere else. :P

True true but if you do well I guess you could make quite a lot of money.

Indeed, I agree. I wonder if there is certain pattern or failsafe trick to always be on the winning side. If there is, I'm game.

I've wanted to get into the stock market as well, but it's too risky like the lottery and there is no promise I get my money back.

I use mutual funds instead. Single stocks are very dangerous. If you spread your money around with a mutual fund, you'll do well.

This > http://www.investopedia.com/articles/mutualfund/11/build-own-mutual-fund.asp Is a pretty good guide, I think. I actually set up mine with Motley Fool. The article is correct about you getting more in the long-run if you set it up yourself; however, that's more expensive to do. Since I don't have the money to buy a bunch of single stocks, I just have someone do it for me then go into it with a set group of people.

Thanks for the link, I need a long term investment with my money. Not gaining anything in my savings.

We were thinking about this once not long ago, my partner, her brother delves in the stock market and does pretty well for himself. But we decided it was a risk we wasn't willing to take. Like you here so many success stories about it, but how much of it is really true

Anytime! I'm glad the link could be of some basic use. Good luck with investing. :)

I haven't either, but I certainly would've purchased some Apple ones back in the day; if only I knew.

Playing the stock market is an excellent way to make some money *if you know what you're doing*
However, as John mentioned, mutual funds are a safer alternative but the yields are usually lower.
