strawberry amaretto pastries

1/2 package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
1/2 cup sliced almonds, divided
2T granulated sugar, divided
1 orange
1 container (8 ounces) sour cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4t almond extract
1 1/2c thawed frozen whipped topping
12 large strawberries, sliced


-preheat oven to 400
-unfold pastry dough onto a large round pizza stone
-put half almonds in food processor and ground fine. combine almonds and half of the granulated sugar and sprinkle evenly over surface of dough. lightly press almond mixture into dough
-cut dough lengthwise into three strips; cut strips crosswise into four strips and seperate. bake 16-18 min or until puffed and golden brown. remove from stone and let cool completely.
-toast remaining almonds and coarsely chop
-zest entire orange. combine zest and remaining 1T of sugar; set aside
-wisk sour cream, powdered sugar and almond extract together. fold in whipped topping
-slice strawberries
-split open each pastry square; arrange half of the strawberries into bottom of each shell. top each with about 2 heaping tablespoons of cream filling and sprinkle w/chopped almonds. top with reamaining sliced strawberries and sprinkle w/sugared orange zest. Place tops of pastry shells over filling. serve immediately

this is a pampered chef recipe so i have a bunch of stuff to make it go easier and faster. these things rock though.
 
i guess amaretto just means almond in their recipe:9: i know i was all, where's the liquior:9:
