Stupid hard drive

Sounds like a good deal. And if it's what you need, I say go for it.

there's no reason to get a fancy-schmancy computer if you don't need it... all you're doing is posting on the soup, right? ...right??

of course, *I'm* going to get a fancy-schmancy one, but that's my prerogative (sp).

computer equipment just doesn't handle age well, sadly

Yeah...the only parts of my 'puter that are original to when I got it are the case, CD drive, and floppy drive, but yeah.

Well, my bf has been doing some work for the computer store he used to work at, and he's now thinking about having them pay him by giving him a new computer (yeah, they DO owe him that much). He needs much fancier stuff, since he works as a web designer, and has to upgrade often. So if he does that I'm just going to take his old one (which I think is less than a year old), which I think should hold me for a good 3 years or so.

What do I use my puter for? Well...
- Web/E-mail
- Finances
- Taxes
- Occasional use of Microsoft Word for stuff
- A couple games

That's really it. So yeah, I don't need anything super fancy. Hell, I kept my Mac Classic until 1996, and only upgraded then because my 2400 baud modem, 4 megs of RAM, and 40 MB hard drive couldn't handle Netscape. For e-mail, IRC, and Word, it was all I needed. Oh well. I'm showing my age

Hmmmmmmmmm, interesting stuff. It's actually entirely possible my bf has a copy of that.

Anyway, I actually like to do a full reinstall because I end up with so much unnecessary crap on my system after awhile, and I'm never sure which stuff is OK to delete and which isn't...but it looks like that's going to wait awhile.

*crosses fingers that hard drive will last a few more weeks*
