Seriously Stuck In The Mud

My foray into the mud. 6/30/13. My Dad was looking at properties because he wants to buy a house in VA. I've never been mudding or off roading before so I don't know my limitations at all. So we came across this development that was undeveloped but was one of those buy this plot of land and we'll build on it sort of things. The roads we're all dirt so the family mini van couldn't get up there so the xterra got popped into 4 wheel and away we went. So....I tried to get across a mud puddle that did not seem intimidating at all. Looked easy and I figured it was cake.....only later did I realize it was a foot deep. Tried a tow truck....tow truck guy was like there's no way in hell I can get that out. The Developer came out and was a little miffed we we're on his land and said we we're trespassing (perhaps he should put some **** signs up) but was cool in the end once I apologized to him. He was able to pull the Xterra out with his truck and some 100 ft ropes. Several car washes later (like $35 worth of one of those pressure washers) and there's still mud caked in the under carriage and some sticks I can't get out. Also damaged one of the wheel well shrouds - gonna need some washers to put that in place since the screw heads ripped right through the plastic. So yeah...it's been an eventful day.

I saw these on FB I was laughing. I must say you should always beware they may look shallow but they will swallow your truck up.

I result I've now got an invite to the National Xterra Meet for some real off roading LOL
That is a good thing if you think your truck can compete.

It doesn't need to compete. It's a friendly outing where they go off roading in convoys with CB radios. So I'll be with a bunch of people of my level and stock xterra. The forum owner of Xterra Nation (a forum I frequent quite often) is leading that group.

Those are fun I use to do something similar years ago with a friend who owned a Jeep.
