Ok, wizards...
My current mobo is Abit BH6 revision 1.0 which, I just discovered will NOT support my newly ordered PIII 700 coppermine flip-chip. Unless someone knows how I can still use the new chip in my old mobo, I'd like to hear ANY SUGGESTIONS on a good mobo, easy to OC, that has an isa slot?

Thanks

hmph.. well.. i wouldn't suggest any i820/i840 boards cuz they require the RDRAM which is super expensive... so your best bet is to go w/ motherboards using the Via Apollo Pro.

ASUS P3V4X Apollo Pro 133A Slot-1 ATX
ABIT VA6 Apollo Pro 133 Slot-1 ATX
Gigabyte GA-6VX-4X Apollo Pro 133A Slot-1 ATX

you can go to www.anandtech.com or other hardware sites and look up more info on these boards...

Believe it or not, I have still have better luck with BX boards over the VIA chipset. I have five PIII 600e machines, and the BX boards outperform the VIA board completely.

First, I would flash upgrade your bios to the latest revision. Then I would try your PIII FC-PGA with an Asus or Abit slot converter. Make sure it's the slot converter that supports 133 MHz FSB, and that it will properly step down the voltage.

I put a SECC2 PIII 600e in an Abit BH-6 just yesterday. It ran at 6x133 the first time, and I'll try to bump it up (if that option is available) later this week.

Of all my systems, the best performer has an Abit BX6-R2 mobo, 256M PC133 CAS3 ram, Viper V770 Ultra Video, All SCSI drives, CDROM, CDR, and it will do a Seti Work Unit in under 5 hours. My PIII machine on the VIA chipset times are in the 9 hour range.

I hope that helps,

Ski Bum is totally correct except for the slotkey, MSI KICKS A$$ IMHO

I'm running a P3 700E CBO @ 1001 on a bx board...Abit BE6-2. I've tried Via and IMHO they suck. Also do you have the cpu installed? Before trying to do 10 things at once...see if it'll work w/o updating the bios. Abit makes great boards but they sure don't follow up in the bios upgrades

Asus builds great boards as long as your not into speed..(extreme overclocking) they probably are the most stable BX boards........but push a little and Abit takes over.

I just found and Abit BX133 Raid board on Pricewatch that might suit your needs perfectly.

You can get a list of places to buy it here.

I hope that helps,

Thanks SkiBum, and thanks everyone else, too. The BX133 Raid is just what I was looking for, and I didn't realize it was on the market. Alien Soup Rocks.
