What's new

tell us about your favorite gift

My favorite gift was spending Christmas morning with my grandson 20 months. Watching him open and play with his gifts was priceless.

Wow! These are fantastic stories. I love that we all get the true meaning of the season. I really want to be warm and sweet and say it's the sounds of my kids giggling and playing with their new toys and the excitement they exude when talking about Santa visiting.

But....

It's my new big screen TV!!!!! Lol. Really, I'm not a TV person that much, but ours was broken and DH and I decided to splurge and upgrade while we were at it. Its mesmerizing.

BTW, I got to see a GIANT gallon sized bag FULL of birthday cards....she is a great lady....no doubt. And thanks to everone that made HER day.

KG, what is your favorite gift??

I dunno what my favorite is, I have a lot to be grateful for: our new house, the wonderful friends who helped us move (twice in 4 months!), the peaceful and calm holiday season we had, a new pair of bunny slippers and chocolate. I love it all

Best gift, spending the holiday with my dh and two boys. My dh has off till the 4th and we are having a great time just relaxing, playing video games with our new Xbox 360, just some good family time.
Oh and having fun with my new iPad mini my dh won at his work party and gave to me.

My sister wires me enough money for 8 months of mortgage, that relieves me of a lot of stress while DH looking for a new job. She doesn't make me sign IOU or promise when to repay. I know she loves me, but I appreciate the trust and confidence she has on her sister.

I had posted her at cw at the beginning of the month about a vera bradley bag I wanted to sell--I should never have bought it for myself ( even if it was cheap) as we had lots of unexpected expenses--anyway Christmas day I opened up a present--my 18dd went and bought me the bag at the outlet store--same bag/pattern

wcjost - I love your story - I feel like most of that story I could have written, but I never got the reunion to validate that my kids are good in church most of the time. I was actually asked to leave a mass that was celebrating the 8th graders by the 8th grade teacher. The worst part was there was 2 of us with small kids and it wasn't my kids that were making the noise. I felt humiliated and discriminated against (since I was the "young" parent). I went home and cried my eyes out. I know exactly how you were feeling.

Oh and my favorite gifts - that my kids truly appreciated everything they were given (even the socks) and had even more fun GIVING to their siblings and us - and a new Disney Dooney & Burke from my mommy!

Staz I am so sorry for how you were treated and truly know how u felt. I hope someday you can get resolve. One of the ladies, that came up to compliment my kids, and I got talking about what had happened that day three years prior and her theory was older people just don't remember what it was like having kids that age. Perhaps in your case, this teacher had no kids? Or not more than one? Does not excuse that she did. She was a teacher for crying out loud. After the talk with this lady, I have made a mental resolve that I will be one of the people that encourages other families with small kids. I want to turn this bad thing that happened to me into something good for others. Maybe some day this could be a way for u to find some resolve? Big hugs to you.

Vitamix from Costco...my friends don't understand why I think it's sweet that DH remembered I've been drooling over this for 3 years. My kitchen is destroyed but I've been in blender heaven this week. Anyone have any good recipies to try?

I'm not sure what my favorite was. Dh did really well this year. I usually pick/buy/wrap my own gifts just so that I have stuff to open in front of the kids. This year I told him I wanted at least 1 thing under the tree that was surprise. I gave him a Kohls coupon and told him what size to get. He spent over an hour at Kohls and came home with a beautiful sweater. Said he picked it because it's a color that looks good on me that I don't wear often enough. Love that he put so much though into it!

My mom totally spoiled me. She asked for Christmas list and I gave her a list with 5 items on it. She bought all 5 items on the list, plus a $50 Kohls gift card and a $50 Ulta gift card.

Least favorite was defiantly the stomach flu we all came down with yesterday. Once again my mom spoiled me. I got sick first, dh was a work, and I was home with the kids. My mom dropped off gatorade and happy meals. Then dh came home and took over. Took care of the kids, got them in bed, cleaned up the mess of toys they took out.

Have you ever seen the episode of "Everbody loves Raymond" about the big fork and spoon?

So, every year me and my siblings do a grab bag since its so many kids combined with adults. It's just adults participating, all the kids get gifts, well, my little brother and his fiancé gave me a iPad cover much needed, and I wasn't their grab bag pick. I was surprised! That is my favorite cause it came from the heart...
