yea, but I like the song.

And, an aurgument could be made that when he died that a whole new generation of artists were born (figuratively) that were heavely influenced by him. hence on the day he died his legacy was passed on.

Perhaps. But then again the way the entertainment biz goes you could say that as soon as the Beatles became popular, they began to be copied.

I wasn't as true then as it is now, Plus just copying a band doesn't mean they were taugh "to play" I look at that line as meaning they changed the face of music in a way that can still be felt today. Not so much being copied but showing the world a new way to play.

Ah. I think he and Paul certainly influence song writing even now, but true I don't think you have seen a band trying to be in "that mold" in decades.
