The Confabulation Thread - Part 2

Yeah I never got the whole "it's not real" argument by people who don't like or get it. My reponse to that since I was about 10 has been "no ****, neither is anything else on tv".

Man I loved wrestling when I was little. You know I grew up in Spartanburg and it was right at the end of the Jim Crockett era and I was watching Flair when he was really the man, and Nikita Koloff, the "real" 4 Horsemen etc.... that was a great time to be a wrestling fan. I think that if I was a kid now and wwe was all I was exposed to, I probly wouldn't be that interested in it.... I'd be watching reruns of the Powderpuff Girls or some ****!

That's a good point, With all the other stuff to watch now I am not sure I'd watch it either.

When I was little, during the summer and after school everyday I would go and stay at this ladies house with most of the other kids in the neighborhood cause it seems like she babysat for most of the area. And she and her husband loved wrestling so I grew up watching that same stuff because that's what they wanted to watch and I have loved it ever since.

But now, I probably wouldn't. I'd probably be way more into animation and video games I bet.

When we moved from SC to Birmingham Ala (around 91 I think) The wrestling down there was horrible. There was no real territory, just indy wrestling. And I don't mean GOOD indy wrestling.... it was the kind of **** where some guy worked pumping gas during the day and then "wrestled" at night in a tent set up in the parking lot of a Shoneys or something. I hated WWF and wouldn't watch it on tv, and WCW was pretty hard to sit thru so I basically quit watching wrestling all together.

Then late one summer night in 1995, I was flipping thru the channels at about 2:15 am and there on Sports South. I first heard the letters.....

E......C.....W!!!!!!!

And I was in love again!

I still remember the very first ECW footage I saw that night..... it was Beulah telling Raven that she was pregnant.....

You are closer to making your own movie than being able to play at the smae level as any pro-athlete. Or for that matter actually doing whatever they are pretending to do in the movie itself than say being Michael Jordan or Brett Farve.

You just don't like real people is all it is. :p
Not at all. You can afford to use the same bats, gloves, balls as the pro's and actually go hit the ball, not as good as pros of course but you can simulate them easier.

Movies, you lack the ability to act ( like the pro skills of a pro ball player ) and then you can't even afford to use any the equipment they use in movies to make them, just cheap bestbuy style stuff

:p

and no I don't like real people in general  hall of fame players or actors :p

Dude, you can buy the best ball and bat in the world and it won't bring you to 10% of Derek Jeter or Pedro Martinez. And all the highpriced sneakers and shorts won't let you sniff 3% of Michael Jordan or Dirk Nowitski. Size, ability, talent and drive is not something that can be that easily replicated. And it is not just a matter of shooting hoops in your backyard, it is having everyone involved in a game like that at that level. I could go out to the local court and dominate the kids in a pick-up game but that doesn't compare in anyway with watching Michael Jordan or someone else do it in the NBA Finals.

And you might lack the ability to act, but then again so do most movies stars. :p And I could sell my comic book collection like Kevin Smith did and we could make Clerks or really any of his other movies except maybe Dogma or we could put together something like Swingers. The only thing you equate the difference between you and making movies is money. Well if that is true, you can get more money, you can't buy or find athletic talent and abilities.
