Dude, you can buy the best ball and bat in the world and it won't bring you to 10% of Derek Jeter or Pedro Martinez. And all the highpriced sneakers and shorts won't let you sniff 3% of Michael Jordan or Dirk Nowitski. Size, ability, talent and drive is not something that can be that easily replicated. And it is not just a matter of shooting hoops in your backyard, it is having everyone involved in a game like that at that level. I could go out to the local court and dominate the kids in a pick-up game but that doesn't compare in anyway with watching Michael Jordan or someone else do it in the NBA Finals.

And you might lack the ability to act, but then again so do most movies stars. :p And I could sell my comic book collection like Kevin Smith did and we could make Clerks or really any of his other movies except maybe Dogma or we could put together something like Swingers. The only thing you equate the difference between you and making movies is money. Well if that is true, you can get more money, you can't buy or find athletic talent and abilities.

Thats my point. With sports players atleast I can use the same equipment as them, forget 10% or 3% you mentioned, more like maybe 1% :p

I never said I give actors any credit, but if I were to make my own movie I'd have to use cheap knock off equipment and maybe .000000000000001% a quality movie as your average mainstream movie, and I'm not saying there is very many good movies :p

Swingers, how can you use swingers. Thats probably in the top ten worst movies ever made.... ever, and I still couldn't make something a fraction of a % as good.

Lets face it. You are a fan of the person, I'm a fan of the Company,Corporation :p

Nah, I have very few sports "idols" as an adult. I just like sports and the idea of sports more than tv or movies and you are the opposite.

And I liked Swingers. :huh:

In order not to be a wage slave you need one of the following:

Very rich parents
a very rich spouse/significant other
a very rich baseball player who will pay you to sniff his peter.

Even being your own boss is not all it's cracked up to be. A lot of folks I know who are self-employed stress more than I do about their jobs and money. For that matter, I've got a stack of job applications on my desk right now and many of those folks are currently "self-employed".

I guess it all depends on what you do and how much you like what you do whether you consider yourself a wage slave or not. I like what I do most days and make a decent living doing it, so I guess I don't fit that category or at least I don't feel like I do........

Yeah in most situations even being your own boss doesn't fit. To me having to work at all, having to act a certain way and behave a certain way because of that job makes anyone a "wage slave". If you have to have a job, have to have that next paycheck and that drives your existance then you fit that bill.
 
He is going to school to be a teacher, now I would think that would fall in to the slave wage, but clearly he doesn't think so per his busting our balls all the time.

I was curious if the was some kind of deeper meaning to the term I wasn't understanding beyond those working to get the money they need and those who no longer ( or ever had to ) worry about money.

Maybe because he is still a student he doesn't view himself as being a "slave to the man" just yet.

That could be it. He's a pro, only took just around 10 years to get a 2 year degree ( going full time :p )

He should get his 4 year around the year 2120

So he's on the 10-20 year plan huh??

One of my roommates in college had been going to school continuously since his early 20's. He was 38 at the time. He still did not have his bachelor's degree. I tutored him for his remedial math class that he had failed 4 times previously. He still failed it that year. It was hopeless. :lol:
