The Confabulation Thread - Part 2

I'm off to the ER. Messed up my foot last week. I wear support stockings and it slipped down preventing my 4th and 5th toes from flexing out as I was walking. Stupid me didn't realize until I got home from a 4 mile walk. -- It was hurting me quite a bit but figured it was just a sprain Between yesterday and today it's getting worse not better so I'm going for an Xray and hopefully some pain killers.

Aside from that these are too funny not share:

Hope you feel better soon @Dan Hutter, the hospitals around here suck. They hate giving out pain medications. :P

Thanks man. :) The hospitals around here are generally pretty decent. As far as pain meds, I have a really high pain threshold so when I'm going in asking for drugs they better come out with the good stuff. Last time the doc wrote my a script for Tylenol 4? I said doc have you seen me, what's Tylenol 4 going to do for me? He jumped to Percoset, lmao.

The ER only gives you 10 pills and you're supposed to follow up with your reg doc. She's good but you ain't getting pain killers out of her unless your on your death bed. I like it that way most docs are waaay to quick with the prescription pad.

Ya, I remember when they were giving me Morphin(sp?) through injection when I was having some real bad chest pains - which was due to to my acid relieve problem. The acid just got so built out that it wouldn't go away. I had to take Motrion 800 MG(four times daily? I think?) and acid reflux medications to get that pain away. It took 3-4 days for it all to go away, and I'm glad.

But, I agree with you on that one - us bigger folks need stronger medications or the pain won't go anywhere.

Ya I got a Physician assistant this time. I have a bad sprain in 3 joints on that foot. :-/ PA was cute so I didn't mind until she tried to give me Tylenol 3, lol I got her up to Vikes 5/500 and only 6 of 'em so it looks like I'm going to have to plead with my doctor. $9 for 6 vikes, unbelievable. She loaded me up on anti-inflamatories and an antibiotic as it looks like an infection is starting.

@Dan Hutter: Wow, sorry to hear that!! BTW, not sure if it helps, but you could also try good old Aspirin, that's pain killer + anti-inflammatory (take only after meals!). Aspirin is even a natural medicine that was originally found in some tree bark used by natives as a cure. I use Aspirin whenever I have pains or inflammations. It's sold in pharmacies (not a prescription med, at least here in Germany). Another good natural medicine I can recommend is Keltican which can be used to trigger the healing of nerve injuries, if you ever have that (I used that when I suffered from lumbago).

Thanks Monster. On a lark, I took a new formulation of Aspirin last night that dissolves on your tongue. I was hesitant but it really did help even more so than the narcotics and it tastes awesome.

Never heard of Keltican. I'll have check out my natural supplements store.

So glad it's friday, was planning for a fun run tonight but it looks like it may rain :(

It's looking like it might rain over here as well @Brandon
It's so humid out

I hope it doesn't here.
We're planning on running out by the governors mansion, there area few nice trails. The one we're going after is 2.7 miles long.

I'm sorta training for a 5K in 3 weeks

Oh, nice, sounds like fun though. Who are you running with?

And I just checked the forecast, no rain here just clouds @Brandon

for the 5K? it's for a church on the east side of town, I know several locals that will be running and I signed up when I saw them..lol

For the run tonight, going to run with my GF if it's not raining.

That's cool. Is the church doing it for a charity or something?

Glad that it helped! :)

I think I was too quick mentioning that, it might be unavailable in the States after all! ;)
I tried to find the US trade name, but didn't find anything useful.
(a pharmacy could perhaps mix it for you, if you're the DIY type, the main ingredients are 2.5 mg of cytidine 5'-monophosphate disodium salt dihydrate and 0.95 mg of uridine-5'-monophosphate disodium salt analogous to 0.63 mg of uridine. ;) )

Keltican is sort of weird anyway -- since it stimulates nerve regeneration, it can make every nerve in your body tingle and it can cause erratic muscle cramps, pains or spasms occasionally (due to overstimulation of nerves!), but nothing to worry about if you have lumbago or some other severe pain that can be healed by nerve regeneration. In the documentation for the drug it is mentioned that side effects etc. are largely unknown so far, so it might be relatively safe. I used it myself and it didn't kill me! ;)

p.s. the best way to avoid lumbago and other spinal pain is having a proper mattress and keep the spine warm at all times (for example by using warm blankets on bed, chairs etc.) and wearing warm clothing.

Hey Floks what's doin?

I'm living. :) My foot is feeling a whole lot better the other night it got mega-itchy. I don't know how to explain it but it was like itchy on the inside and that means it's healing. Still a little sore by no where near the pain I was in. I'm really looking forward to getting back to walking, hopefully by this weekend. I feel like crap w/o my daily exercise.

Dunno if I mentioned it but I'm building a website for a local contractor. I'm 6 hours in and severely underbid. I know his business is hurting and he's friend of a friend but hey I gotta eat too so no more of that. I hope to bang out the rest of the site tomorrow.

@Dan Hutter Glad to hear that you're feeling better. I'm going to 24 hour fitness later to see what's up with a 3-day pass, and then look into getting a family memebrship for my brother and I. We need to lose a lot of weight.
