Ok it is one thing to not agree with the President or whateva it is that you hate about him/First Lady, but to out and out be rude and say she is a hoe, drag queen, etc, is really unnecessary to me. What does her appearance have to do with that..really, that is one thing my mother had to teach us, that growing up in this society you have to have tough skin because it is what it is..

I could call Nancy a lot worse. She & her dear Ronnie caused untold deaths and needless suffering because of their refusal to acknowledge the AIDS crisis.

Children like Ryan White were burned out of their homes and kicked out of public schools because of blatant bigotry, blind fear and ignorance that was left to foster and grow, not one word of compassion or calm from the leader of the nation or the first lady. They were too busy kissing the religious right's ****, and the Reagans' silence condemned untold thousands to scorn, derision & death as the religious right believed AIDS was the wrath of God upon homosexuals.

Nancy was more concerned with matching china and hiring pretty people than the lives of those struck by AIDS.

There was no rush to fund research to find treatment or cure, no public education, no kindness towards those infected. So many children and adults got AIDS needlessly because of ignorance about transmission or universal precautions. Give me Hillary & Bill Clinton Michelle & Barack Obama, even Gerald & Betty Ford any day of the week over superficial Nancy & Ron Reagan.
 
Maybe we should just say that all politicians (and often their families) take a few too many liberties with their positions of power and abuse a lifestyle paid for largely by taxpayers. Michelle Obama went to Spain; Laura Bush and her daughters went on safari in Africa. Look at the last two IL governors - one Repub and one Dem, and they're both either in jail or will be soon (hopefully). I think this sort of abuse is definitely a bipartisan problem.
 
Hell, my boss stays in $500/night hotels all the time. He routinely spends more than my annual salary on a week's vacation...because he can. She's the frickin' first lady, she deserves a vacation. Where's she supposed to go, Busch Gardens?? Sorry if I'm not outraged.

According to the article, she will have taken 8 vacations by the end of the summer. That does seem a little excessive to me. If you count "summer" as June, July, and August, that means she's taking almost 3 vacations each month. So, basically her entire summer has been one long vacation with a few breaks in between.

ennui that was right when it was all new to all of us. Most of us were unsure of aids. There's no way they would have responded the same way this many years later. You cannot possibly compare presidencies so many years apart over something like that when so much science and public acceptance and knowledge has grown.

And what's this "they" bullshit? Last I checked Nancy or any other first lady didn't make policy. And matching china? Yes it is tradition that every first lady pick out a new pattern of china. :duh:

As the Chicago Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet reports, by the end of the summer, the first lady will have taken eight vacations. That includes a June trip to Los Angeles, where she and her daughters attended the NBA Finals, as well as an upcoming trip to the Florida Gulf Coast next weekend and a 10-day visit to Martha's Vineyard later this month with the president...

Now the way I read that is by the end of the summer... meaning including the whole summer and the rest of the year included... which would be one vacation a month, as August is the 8th month of the year... Could be wrong though...
 
I liked Ron & Nancy Regan.I don't recall many bad things said about him. Nancy took all the heat from the press. She was accused of having President Regan make decisions based on astrology readings & all sorts of other nonsense.To the best of my knowledge they've never been accused of ripping off the goverment. When the Regans & Bush's vacationed-alot of trips were to their family homes in Ca. & Texas.

I have no faith in any politican.If they're not dishonest when they are elected-eventually they become crooks.

It is NOT traditional for each administration to pick out new china. China is usually only ordered when there has been too much breakage, multiple administrations have used old china. No other administration made as much of a stink about it as Reagan's.

They showed no compassion, no remorse, just silence. It was a disgrace.

None of us have any way of knowing that for sure & even if she did-she didn't do any damage.When they left the White House-it was all good.

My mom has only spoke to me 2 times since 'Xmas. I try to not think about it.She's not mad at me-i think she just doesn't care.
 
I had the pleasure of meeting President Regan several times at fundraisers & when he was campaiging. I know it was only minutes each time but i did feel safe knowing he was in charge. He was a very nice man.I have a pic of us together that i will always keep.
