Vampire: Blood in the Water

OOC: If you think I want THOSE particular NPCs involved, you spent too much time in the sun this week, Sic. Technically, it could be any Cultist. (Even the other Chris..as wrong as that might get.) If I recall correctly, you do have a few written up along the NPC line, don't you?

IC: At the end of the movie, Anais turned the TV off. It was closer to morning, meaning Thaddeus would likely be in the kitchen, availing himself of his niece's offerings. Sloppy thirds, really, but that wasn't her concern. She did feel a slight twinge of guilt for leading the others this far, but perhaps there was a chance to redeem herself yet.

Looking at her companions, she spoke carefully, measuring her words for maximum impact and looking at each in turn.

(fr) "I'm sure you've guessed that no one has been quite...forthcoming with you. The reason you are going to Paris is that the Prince wishes to meet with you. Most likely to try and get Rowan's location out of you. He has...a special interest in his children specifically, though he's not above using any of you in any manner to obtain his means...even if it means the Final Death." She waited for this to sink in before continuing.

"I believe I can get you all out of the country. To the Americas for a fresh start without the entirety of Europe hunting you. The question is if you would rather face what the Prince may have in store for you, or would you rather start over altogether? Neither path is perfectly smooth, and I cannot guarantee your safety either way. I, myself, am planning to head to a place named Seattle, but I am willing to help with whatever your choices may be."

Daithi obsorbed as much as he could in the original french. He could tell it was gravely important by the stunned silence of the others, so he was thankful when Wilhelm muttered a quick translation for him in German. (OOC: Sorry, if I usurped your character for a second there Djeuve, but Daithi needs his translater at times like these.)

Daithi considered things. Rowan's criminal actions, whatever they were, did not affect Daithi as much as they affected Dante and Wilhelm. He could very well go to the Prince, and not fear the consequences as much as those two...but then again, it wasn't like he knew a lot about his own sire, or whether just the affiliation would be enough to...mean his death. Who would have known that accepting the job as Wilhelm's coach driver would lead him here, hundreds of years later.

Suddenly, Daithi chuckled to himself, causing a few looks from the others. He turned back to Wilhelm, "Irgendwohin du gehts, da geh' ich auch. (Wherever you go, I go aswell.)"

He was, afterall, the man's chauffer!

OOC: well someone has to say something :)

After the play in the box ended Anais turned to the group of them and spoke gravely about their futures in this future. Rowan had never really endeared himself to Dante, and except while in his presence Dante felt no deep love for the man. He had taken Dante from his family forever and now in the future he had not even been able to see them one last time, who knew what had happened to them. Dante also mostly despised being a vampire and taking lives, when for his whole life he had only given them back. Perhaps going to see this Prince was not a bad idea. Maybe Dante could help the Prince find Rowan. Dante had been on a path of revenge once before, twice in an everlasting life could not be so bad. Hopefully this will time it will turn out better than the last, at least I can't be turned into a vampire...again.

"(Fr) I say we go to see the Prince. There is no sense in running from out troubles. If we go to the Americas and we are important enough, this 'Prince' will hunt us down there anyway, it will only serve to delay the inevitable. Let's be done with whatever has to be done here, we were brought together for some sort of reason. Bring that reason to a conclusion and we can all go our separate ways."

occ: bored might as well keep this going

ic: Elizabeth took in the news. Elizabeth hated Rowan for what he had done to her, she should have hated her mother too....and she did a little. She thought it was a good idea to see this Prince and possibly help him, depending on how it would be good for both the group and her.

She listened to Dante and then nodded,

'(Fr) yes let's go to the prince, sort out whatever we need to do and be on our way.' But inside was scared for the first time in her life. She had grown fond of Dante, like she would to an older brother almost, she didn't want to end up leaving any of them for a matter of fact....she didn't want to face this world alone, no matter how much it interested her

Of all the people to respond, Dante was surprised that Elizabeth was the first to pipe up. It warmed his bloodless heart (OOC: uh, what's the deal with vampires and emotions? they have them?) and he was happy that at least one of this motley assortment of characters was on the same page as him. She had a sort of pained and scared look on her face though, so Dante smiled at Elizabeth and ruffled her hair. "(Fr) Don't worry Elizabeth. We'll work this out and then everything will be fine."

Elizabeth tried to smile...she felt a tiny bit of hope but then it soon disappeared. She never did have anyone when she was alive but her maid, then she disappeared...who would she have now in her everlasting death....

She shivered, got up off the couch and went for a walk around the house. She was hopelessly trying to quell the sadness...and tears.

OOC: Vamps do have emotions, Rascal. They were born human, and emotions won't let go that easily...though many tend to bury them in deference to the beast (the need to drink blood.)

(OOC: Oops, seems to be my turn; sorry I didn't check in a while, got distracted...plus, last time I checked, no one had posted in days...Oh...and...What's the deal with Odette? We just assume she never existed now?)

Trouble... and Anaïs had admitted everything while still sitting casually on his lap. Wilhelm now felt very...uncomfortable.

Seeing the Prince could just as well mean he would cease to exist. Sure, what he was now wasn't much of an 'existance', but he was not ready to let go just yet. He cared little for Rowan anymore, and would rather follow his own path if possible. Though, if he was to always have the man's shadow be cast over him....

As for the Americas, all he remembered was that some mercenaries from home occasionally set out to 'fight the rebellion' going on over there. It seemed at the time that the English were losing their iron grip on their mighty Empire... he wondered how that turned out? Besides, weren't the America's filled with nothing but wild men, trees, fur-hunters and lumberjacks? Didn't sound like much fun to him...

So...Possible death, or eternal boredom....?

On the other hand...how much could he really trust this Anaïs woman anyway? But then, who else would show them the ways of the world...

"Tja...ich...(Yeah...I....)" he began in response to David. Then grinned as a thought came to him. "Was soll's? Lass uns mit diese Sache befreit sein. (What the hell? Let's just get this thing over with.)"

He would never be at peace until this Rowan matter was over anyway. He nodded to the others and continued in French, with a boyish grin:

"(Fr.) I was planning on going to Paris anyway."

Im gonna ive firefly a chance to post and then I will get the next scene up. (Oh and be quick there is another player I am about to add and I need to get to it. Hes waiting.)

Thats a shame I wanted her input on this.... oh well. She best not miss this next scene, it invovles her most of all.

Ok votes for seeing the prince 4

Votes to not see the price 1

I will get right on it!
So I guess we see the prince then

It was decided, they would see Prince Rathe. A night’s trip to Paris was uneventful. Anais drove the whole way, constantly looking over her shoulder at the long box Thadeus had given her for the Prince. Their was a wrongness about it. (Anyone with the auspex power to see auras would detect a dark blackness about the box) It did not matter, she would be rid of it soon enough.

Paris, city of love, it was far different then the others had remembered it. Hundreds and hundreds of these ‘cars’ drove its streets. The city was massive, many times larger than it was before. They were headed for Elysium, the stronghold of the Price. It was a business center in the commercial district. A huge building standing nearly 100 stories tall, it was the biggest man made thing that the five at ever seen. They approached the building. Inside they approached an elevator, another odd contraption they had never seen. As the exited the elevator they were looking down a long marbled hallway. At the end there was a massive set of doors guarded by two of the largest men, save for Paladin Andrews, that the vampires had ever seen. Anais whispered under her breath, pointing at the men, “Clan Buja, don’t provoke them†As they approached the gates the guards looked at Anais, “Your friends, whoever they are will have to wait, the Prince wishes to speak to you.†The guards ushered Anais in, leaving the other five waiting outside.

Anais approached the prince. He was a tall dashingly attractive man. Prince Rathe was a Deva, a very old one in fact. Anais approached with the box and one of the princes aides took it. The prince spoke. “Young Anais, you did not open that box did you? That would be most unfortunate. No? Good. Now tell me, what did you find at the mass grave in Marseilles?†Anais went on to tell the story, she wanted to keep things back, to adjust it to maintain the others innocence, but as always, Prince Rathe had a way with people, he was a man to which you could not lie.

When Anais came to the descriptions of the five, the prince seemed visually agitated. Something was worrying him and it was visible. He swore and told his aids to leave. They did so, Anais was alone in the room with the Prince. “My dear, you are mistaken, you did not find these neonates in Marseilles. They are of no consequence do you understand. They are simply young wayward vampires that you happened across on the road. Do you understand?†Anais did, whether she liked it or not, she knew it was better to accept these things willingly, rather than fight them. If he wanted the price could simply change her memory and force her to remember it as he wished. That sort of thing was often extremely damaging to the mind so she simply agreed. “Now, send these young ones in.â€

The five entered. It was Odette who first noticed it. This man, Rathe, was…… familiar. She had seen him before, was it in a dream? No, he was close to her, as close as one can be to her own blood kin…… the others saw it too, they had seen him before and then it hit her, Odette knew, and she had never felt such fear in her life. This man, this Price, he was, her sire, Rathmore Benjamin Gates. “He looked long and hard into the eyes of the young ones. “I could kill each and every one of you now and no one would know the better. I should, but I wont, no, I could not, you will live, but you must leave this place now! You will leave France this night, and never return is that understood?†Odette wanted to speak, to say something anything but all she could do was nod. Before they knew it they were on their way to the airport. Anais had a contact in the Americas, a place called Seattle, they would fly there tonight.

They did not fly first class, second class, or standby. They flew the only way Vampires can across county, in the cargo hold of the plane. A few dominations of airport staff and they were in. They found comfortable places to sit, it was going to be a long flight.

Anaïs settled comfortably on some luggage that she arranged into a makeshift chair. Not only was she going to America, it was with the Prince's blessing and without losing her looks or being blood-bound. No hunt, no constant checking over her shoulder, a money base (a small encounter at the airport had given her nearly a thousand dollars...when would Americans learn NOT to carry their silly green papers in such large amounts?) and she had a mostly-friendly face to greet once they crossed the ocean.

As far as these others...she did not know what she would do with them. She had offered to escort them to America if they wished, but had not seen through to the fact that they would still need assistance in getting about and acclimatizing if they were not to be eaten within days of arriving. She had become, in effect, a long-term babysitter.

Well then, if she was to care for them, she would take pains to make sure that soon no one would be able to take them for refugees from another place/time. Her pride as a Daeva demanded it...even if her initial plans had been otherwise. And the first place to start would be language.

(fr) "I realize that Daithi speaks english," and then directly to the Irishman, (en) "and the American ladies will flock to you for your accent. Most find an Irish accent irresistable."

Continuing on, (fr) "and...Wilhelm...you do speak a little, yes? Do any of the rest of you speak the language? It is most important."

That it was possible to build monuments as high as mountains and giant flying metal birds was impressive, but no longer surprising. Wilhelm had started to believe that nothing was impossible with 'technology' anymore. He had even heard passing news on the 'radio' that made medicine look like a professional fine art, and no longer a questionable trade of scholars. He saw fire that lit whole 'buildings' lit with fire that didn't burn, and signs with the same fire but in all imaginable colours. People wearing so many diffrerent fashions it seemed it would be hard to keep up. Women wearing clothes more revealing than any nightgown Wilhelm had ever seen in his life.

So, they were to go to the Americas... Wilhelm did not quite look forward to living a farmer or hunter's life, but it seemed necessary for the moment, and he guessed he could always one day return to the civilized land of Europe.

When they arrived at the metal birds' nest, it seemed that they were to Dominate some workers and make their way into the stomach of one such bird. Wilhelm did his part with little difficulty; he enjoyed having people do what he wanted without having to convince them first. Mimicking Anaïs, Wilhelm gathered some paper money from some of the people he encountered. How convenient; like a debt card except accepted everywhere and with direct worth; light to boot (not that it mattered that much to him, with his inhuman strength).

The flying was enjoyable. Though he had no windows, and he had to stay in a crate for most of the trip, the power and speed of the bird was thrilling.

Soon...they would arrive in the New World...

At Anaïs' question, Wilhelm sighed a small laugh. He wished he had caught what she had said to David though. He would have to ask later...

"(Fr.) My English is very basic; I believe I can find my way around eventually, but I was still in the process of learning before... But with David's help, I felt I was learning fairly fast. I should learn it in no time once I start learning again." He winked at her.

He turned to David, and said with his thick German accent:

"(En.) We start a new adventure now, yes? We shall need to make lessons again!"

Daithi wasn't sure if he was happy or sad that they weren't given time to explore Paris. The city was more than he had ever thought it would be. The buildings seemed impossible, the shiney metal coaches were everywhere, and there were so many people...it was both fascinating and slightly intimidating. If he didn't know better, he would think he was having some vivid dream...but he was certain that what he saw was even beyond the limits of his own mind.

And now instead of invisible horses, they were travelling in the belly of a metal bird...a bird so big it would carry them across the ocean. Daithi did not know much of the new world, besides that it had made war with Britain shortly before his journey to France. Daithi let a small smile creep to his lips, any country that fought Britain couldn't be THAT bad.

Suddenly Anais spoke to him, and his smile grew wider. While the others responded to Anais' question, Daithi responded to Wilhelm in his clearest english,

"Yes, we can start the lessons as soon as you like. Perhaps they will make the time pass faster while we sit in this contraption."

Time was flashing by Dante. It was just whirling around him as all the new technology that he was being introduced to was flashing by. He'd given up on asking questions about how any of it worked and was beginning to just accept that the world had wildly changed since they had fallen in the riots.

At the building that housed what looked like huge metal birds Dante saw more types of people than he had ever seen in his life. How could all these different people be congregated here? Maybe there is something important going on. As they walked through the building Dante looked out a window and saw one of the metal birds rolling along on some wheels, it started to speed up, and then lift off of the ground. His jaw dropped.

He played his part in getting them onto the plane. The people in this time seem to be very weak willed, he doubted that commanding them was even necessary, but it was a risk not worth taking. The climbed into the belly of one of the birds and waited. Anais made herself comfortable somehow by sitting on some bags and then she asked about their english.

"(Eng. obviously lol) Mya eenglish ez notta so goood. (OOC: ok, i can't keep up the accent lol) Not much practice I am having. I am think I can understand more better than I can say." His words were obviously forced. "I..." The room started to rumble and Dante tripped over himself for a moment before catching himself. A loud roaring noise filled the room and it felt much like back in the horseless carriage, but now he was standing, more like wobbling. The room tilted and Dante fell square on his bottom. His ears started to plug up, "(It) What is happening??" He managed to get out confusidly.

After a while the room settled to a more reasonable angle and Dante had unpopped his ears and could hear again. He didn't feel right using other people's bags as his chair so he sat on the floor and leaned against the side of the room inside the bird. "(Fr) Does anyone have some cards?"

Anaïs smiled at Dante's question and produced a deck of playing cards from her pocket...an acquiry from one of the flight attendants. They had airplanes on the back, though she would much have preferred a standard Hoyle deck. Shucking them from their case, she handed them to the Italian to shuffle.

(fr) "I don't suppose you know poker, do you?"

Elizabeth marvelled at teh new 'areoplane' they were in. It seemed like a metallic bird. Elizabeth looked at her companies, each of them taking in everything and trying to understand. When Anais asked about their english, she said,

'My english is ok, I think. I need to improve,' Was all she could manage. Once she got to america she would improve her languages and her knwoledge of this new world. For the time being, she heard Dante ask about cards. She smiled, something normal she could understand. Anais asked about poker...

'(Fr)Deal me in,'
