Vampire: Blood in the Water

Anais produced a deck of cards from her pocket a little too quickly, it was a good thing Dante was flat broke. "(Fr) Do I stand any chance playing against two girls? Certainly not with Elizabeth in the game." With another ruffle of her hair he sat down in the game, it would kill some time and take his mind off everything. He wasn't the best poker player in the world, but had played enough to be competent. "(Fr) I'm in too."

(fr) "Wonderful. It is good that so many of you speak English...or at least bits. That is the language we will have to use to communicate with others once we get to the Americas. Within ourselves, French is fine, but the Americans are...odd about people not speaking their language."

She watched Dante shuffling the cards. He had elegant hands, and was likely a very good poker player. The best, after all, knew better than to boast of their prowress.

"I apologize now, I am not terribly good at poker, but I do enjoy a good game. Perhaps it is better that we do not play for stakes? I suppose we can find wagering items within these bags, but...I have no taste for rifling through the belongings of mere mortals."

She put out her hand for the cards Dante would deal once he was done shuffling. Then, remembering her manners, she turned her eyes to David.

(en) "Daithi? Would you care to play? I cannot imagine that you are the slouch with cards."

Daithi couldn't help the slow smile that crept almost wickedly across his face. With a wink, he responded, "(en) It is true, I am no stranger to the game. It would be a pleasure to play with such beautiful ladies."

Daithi was happy that as time wore on, it seemed that even these members of the higher class were as excepting of him as Wilhelm always was. Though, Daithi realised that with all the changes, he considered them all too be equals as well - equally lost in this new century.

Elizabeth smiled. A little bit of normalcy for a change. Anais's comment about the americans didn't exactly surprise her, no matter what era/time period, countries were not exactly 'friendly' with each other as they should be.

Dante ruffled her hair. He had a habit of doing that, like she was a little girl. But then she had the looks, sometimes the personality, she'd never had the chance to grow up but she was nearly 400 years old. But still the motion gave her hope, maybe she wouldn't be alone afterall. Being with Dante was like having an older brother, the one she'd never had. She remebered all them years ago when they ahd first met, she had thought he seemed fimliar...she still felt that way but somehow she still couldn't recall anything...

Someone called her name, calling her back to reality..

occ: anyone can say they called my name don't mind :)

Anaïs settled herself a little more comfortably as Daithi joined them and she noted Elizabeth's mental meandering.

(softly & en.) "`Lizabeth? E-li-za-beth...." When there was no response, she placed a slender hand on the girl's shoulder and shook her...just a little. "Elizabeth, you are a million kilometers away, no? Would you prefer to sit this hand out? I would wager you are the far more formidible opponent than these two, which might give me a chance." This last was said with a wink and a teasing smile.

Elizabeth laughed 'Sorry Anais, got alittle out of myself there. I'll still play.' She giggled. 'I'm not that good but I certainly try to win,'

Dante looked around for Wilhelm and Odette. They seemed to be trapped in their own little worlds as much as Elizabeth had just been. With the four of them sitting in a circle on the floor, he dealt out the cards, 5 each. And so they whiled away a few hours.

occ: kath says she cant be bothered with this anymore...so can we leave her out??

ic: Dante handed out the cards to Elizabeth. She took a look and smiled, maybe she could win a few rounds...after that time seemed to coem to a stand still, even though many hours went by.

OOC: I don't see a problem with it, though I'm sorry to see her go.

IC: Anaïs put her cards down after many hours of play. They would be landing soon, to refill in Seoul, and from there it was a straight shot over the ocean to Seattle. Thankfully, the oceanic flight was during daylight hours, so they would all be able to get some sleep. A plane couldn't, after all, stop mid-ocean.

Getting up, she stretched indulgently and checked her watch. They'd been enroute for almost eight hours.

(fr) "Do forgive me, but I think I should get some sleep. It'll be daylight soon, and we've got another fifteen hours before we arrive in Seattle.

With a little yawn, she adjusted some other luggage into a makeshift bed and curled up to wait for the next evening to come.

occ: never mind though she'll be okies

ic: Elizabeth yawned. She didn't feel to tired, maybe it was because anais had yawned. She put her cards down and walked away fom the others, if only it was a little distance. She needed time to think. To go to this new america, she didn't still know what she was going to do, for some reason she was deeply troubled by it all....hadn't she coped by herself all those years of being alive??

Slumping down, she leant against one of the walls of the plane, sighed. She started softly singing, she remebered it from her past...but from where from was unknown to her.

OOC: bye bye firefly! we'll miss ya :)

Everyone left the "table" after a while. They had managed to kill a lot of time, but Anais said there was still a ways to go yet. Elizabeth put her cards down and sat against the wall looking glum, singing an old Italian lullaby. Dante gathered the cards put them back in the box and threw lightly them on the now sleeping Anais, startling her a little. He went over to Elizabeth and sat down beside her, arm around her shoulders and sang the song with her. He wasn't much of a singer but maybe it would help her feel a bit better.

Elizabeth jumped, Dante sat down next to ehr and put his arm around her shoulder singing the song with her, how did he know that song??

'(It) How do you know this song?' She asked. She still adh no clue as to what the song was except that she remembered that her maid used to sing it to her as a child.

Dante seemed to have startled Elizabeth when he knew the words to the song she sang. "(It) It's an old lullaby. My mother sang it to me and my sister to get us to sleep when we were younger. I was surprised to hear you singing it. Remembering the old times huh? It's getting early, try to get some sleep." He picked up singing again.

Elizabeth sighed, '(It) I can't sleep, I'm tired but I know I can't, never mind maybe when we get there I can,' She shook her head, 'Too many things going on for me to sleep, sorry,' She looked away, for some reason she wa ashamed, she was being weak and that wasn't any good. Even if she looked like a teenager she had to give up acting like one...she wasn't even an adult anymore, she was a vampire and they shouldn't show weakness.

Anaïs stretched on the luggage and sighed. It had been years since she'd had to travel as one of the commoners. Her sire had seen to most of her wants and needs, and she was finding this...rather disturbing. But the day had passed without discovery for them, and they would soon be landing in Seattle. She would have to acquire a new cell phone...as well as finding a place for all of them to stay.

Would her contact help with that? Possibly. Or he'd know someone who could help them. He and Liz might get along alright...they shared so many traits. The others...well...she just hoped they didn't choose him to feed off of. Nasty surprise, with as little as they seemed to know of the unnatural world.

Her companions had, as she suspected, nodded off with the sun's rays. Not like any of them had much choice. She'd tried once, in the first days of her Change, to stay awake through the day. Hadn't made it an hour past sunrise before she was fast asleep.

Getting up and sliding back into her shoes, she shook Dante. He and Elizabeth had passed out against the wall, much in the same position she'd seen them in this morning. That had to be uncomfortable. Ah well.

(en) "Good morning, sunshine. We're landing in about an hour...might want to get moving."

Elizabeth woke up with a start. Anais was standing over her telling her in english to gt up.

'Oh are we there now??' She asked, She poked Dante to awake him and stood up.

occ: I'm jsut gonan call ehr liz now because it's annoying me, you all can if you wish

ic: Liz lookedup,'What do you mean? Is her the same age or what?' She asked, interested.

occ:I'm sad coz I want a romance somewhere in this game :P

OOC: Romance nothing, Nighty, I've got an ulterior motive for Anaïs' being nice to Wilhelm. *trying for angelic and failing miserably...*

IC: "He, not her, Liz. And I believe he's about the same age...maybe a little older...Very....hmm...gothic. Sweet, when he wants to be. He is a little odd though."
