So we dh and I were heading to Florida in march for my cousins wedding. Received text Sunday that wedding is off because soon to be bride is pregnant.....oooops. All that to say dh and I are not wasting our babysitter! We've never been to Vegas and want to go. Is there must see things? A great show? Tricks for cheap activities/food etc? Any help is appreciated!!

lucky!!-hopefully you will be there during march madness basketball ( unless you hate that..) we went one year during march madness and it was so much fun to walk through the bats/casinos during game time..

but if it was ME on a budget I would pick ONE show you really want to see. The shows are not cheap--and there is plenty of stuff to see that is free ( like walking through all the extravagant casinos--that alone is fun)

oh and we ate at a few hotel buffets for some fancy good food--but we went to lunch sittings-somewhat cheaper--

Why is the wedding off bc she's pregnant?? Is it not his?

Its his, they are not done planning and she's super sick. She stopped working and what not

Do some searching. I think there is a ticket place where you can get tix for shows that are that day for 50 percent off. As long as you're flexible. I love Vegas!! The closest I'm getting to Vegas is a one hr layover when we go to California in march for my brothers 40th bday. Have fun!!!

We went to Vegas once.................good times.................I think.................don't remember much. :)

It's just fun walking around! Most of the casinos have loyalty cards that if you sign up you get some free money to gamble.

I think at least one of the chain casinos (there are a couple that have a bunch of affiliated ones and get points for gambling across all of them) has their 1st "reward" a free buffet I think.

Also for shows there are a couple outlets that offer day of show tickets for around 1/2 price. Saved a of money.

Not sure how you are going to get around. They do have public transit, lots of taxis and every place has free parking. Even though the casinos are right next to each other that means like a couple long block walks from one to the one next to it since they are such big productions.

My favorite shows are the cirque du soleil, O at the Bellagio is awesome but usually hard to find discounted tickets. I love watching the water show in front of the Bellagio, it runs every 15 minutes at night with different songs. Just walking around the hotels can be a lot of fun. The volcano outside the mirage is cool especially at night. The Venetian hotel is nice with the gondolas. I usually find cheap tickets to see the hypnotist shows they are always hysterical. Be prepared to do a lot of walking bring comfortable shoes! There is a discount ticket booth close to the M&M store, I think they mainly have same day discount tickets. The free show in the M&M store is fun.

My mom lives in Vegas, almost every hotel has some type of free entertainment. They used to have lions at the MGM grand hotel, last year they were renovating and I did not see the lions so not sure if they are still there, but watching them feed the lions is awesome the trainers throe the food onto the plexiglass and the lions lick it off right in front of you.

We actually used to go all the time. Do a lot of research online. There's a coupon or deal for everything, even gambling. We once cleared about $600 on one trip down the strip by playing pretty much every match play available at every property on the strip--on a matchplay the odds are SUBSTANTIALLY in your favor so it was hardly even like gambling. Get a players card for every property you play at even if it's just pulling a couple slots--we once were comped the buffet at the Winn after seriously about fifteen minutes of nickel slot play during which we spent more time ordering free ****tails than we did gambling. You can get most of the shows half price day of with the exception of the big ones, and sometimes even them midweek. If you've never seen one do a Cirque show, even if you have to pay for it, they're all amazing. Try at least one really nice Hotel buffet--Bellagio's brunch is amazing and not nearly as expensive as Ballys, the Paris has a great buffet and Cravings at the Mirage is a great sort of mid-level option. If you like seafood do the Seafood buffet at the Rio. If price is really a concern go to the last seating of lunch. You will pay the lunch price but within 20 minutes they will start resetting for dinner. And plus then you will have room for $4.99 steak and egg specials at one in the morning--just about every property has a coffee shop that offers some variation on this. Check out restaurant.com--it's surprising how many of the restaurants in the major properties offer certificates at a discount. Watch for coupon books--they're everywhere and have really substantial discounts (even frees) for restaurants and shows. Most of the major properties offer free ****tails to players and if you tip (even a buck a drink) most ****tail waitresses don't care if you are playing $1000 a hand blackjack or nickel slots.

Vegas is ridiculous--it's gaudy and awful and wonderful. Find strippers and showgirls and just ridiculousness--do things you'd never do anywhere else and you'll have a GREAT time.

One last thing: when you sign up for those players cards, give your real address, if you play at all you'll get offers for free rooms. Hopefully you'll have such a great time you'll want to go back--a free room will come in handy. We once put together a full week--no property offered us more than 2 nights free so we stayed at 4 properties, 2 nights each--all free.

Vegas is a couponers dream--the whole thing is one huge marketing apparatus to game. Have a GREAT time.

The past 2 times we went to Vegas we rented a car.we got a dirt cheap rate..parking at the different hotels. Costs you only your tip to the valet..most people there give like $2..much nicer having the car vs the years we didnt

And if you do self parking write down the section you park in, one time it took us over two hours to find our rental car in the parking lot. It was like that episode of Seinfeld.

:shesaid:I have not done it there but if you have a smartphone/text get an app that will use gps for your location, in the city I use Mycar Locator Free and it is usually within 10ft accuracy. Otherwise/with it you could send yourself a text message with where (level/section) your car is after you park.

my parents have gone there for at least 14 years. I text my mom to see what she could suggest. She did say that going to the shows were costly, but worth it. esp since you could probably lose just as much at the casino but in much shorter amount of time, lol. She also said the show O was awesome. She did say to buy flight and hotel separately. Cabs from the airport run $20 and up. She too said as slpeters said, use your real address. My aunt and uncle get all kinds of offers from there, even from very little spending. I'll see what else she can suggest. Hope you have fun!

I suggest buying or if you own take along.
Some sparkly tanks or tops..seriously once in vegas you will want a little bling :) me and dh saw O ( i think thats the one we saw..) topless cirque du soliel at NY, NY great sexy show

That show is Zumanity at NY NY. O is at Bellagio the best show in Vegas IMO.

We've never been either, but we're planning to go with a group of friends in November.

Have fun!

Rent a car and drive out to Hoover Dam. It is amazing.

We lived out there for 2 years, but weren't in to the gambling or nightlife. Used to take DD to the Circus Circus amusement park, but that was about it.

Oh, never play the slots at the airport, they are just big collection plates.

Im so excited just reading all this!!!! Thanks for the info guys! CW really does know everything :)
