About 80% of the time they get it right. I couldn't do that job though! We had to learn how to forecast the weather in science class in 8th grade and I wasn't listening to the teacher during the lecture so I have no idea how to do it to this day.
I would say around 85% - 90% of the time the weather people tend to get the weather right in my area but there have been a few times where they have got it completely wrong.
I tend to now take a look at other sites myself for the weather and have found sites such as those that have rain radars to be more accurate.
I say 90% they get it right. I wouldn't ask for more since there are so many variables to calculate.
Every time I think about it. It's amazing about the cool things humans can do

I will admit, since looking into the weather more myself and seeing how those who work predicting the weather do it, it takes a skill to be able to read the charts that they use and predict it well enough that it can save lives.
I know back in 2022 when we had one of our hottest summers ever in the UK, if it weren't for some of the weather enthusiasts looking into everything and warning people, a lot more could have been in danger with the fake news that was going around.
Even though they don't get it 100% right, they do get it 80% and that in itself should be appreciated. It is not easy to predict inanimate elements and their behaviors.
