What's new

What color is your laundry room?

I have seen ones like that online and they were super cute! That's actually what made me decide possibly green from these pictures....

Oooh I love this green! I'm planning on having the kitchen painted in the next few months and that's the color I'm planning on. My appliances are white and the cabinets will be painted white.

I really like the top one - has a bit more of a kick to it.

I haven't picked out the paint color yet. I did start getting some of the color cards to start narrowing things down and then will get a few of the little paint samples to help decide. The painter I use likes to use either Benjamin Moore or Behr so I have to stick to those two brands & the colors they offer.

would love a laundry room! My washer in dryer are in the kitchen right next to the kitchen sink:-( I have been pinning laundry room decorating on pinterest too, and in my next house one day it's going to be super cute!

Its so wonderful watching your baby grow in your avatar.

makes me smile every time!

My laundry is in the basement. Unfinished, but my grandmother painted the concrete walls dirty mauve (icky) and the cement floor was painted gray, not bad except it is peeing and showing a green underneath.

I read an aricle awhile ago about sprucing up this space. I brought down some photos and paintings. I bought two indoor/outdoor rugs in tan. I can't believe the difference that made.

Because painting is too much of a job right now, I also bought some clothes line and clips to hang some of the baby clothes I loved from my sons and hang it against the wall as 'art' by nailing it to the studs in the ceiling, but that is still in a drawer...I'll get there soon enough...maybe while we're on strike?

BM stores and Home depot can color match, and they do a good job, ESPECIALLY if you have the manufacturers color card with the color name/number on it. most paints have a translation formula which means you can buy any brand and get virtually the same color. and, i know my painter has "preferences" too, but sometimes you can get a better quality paint at a better price.

as for the color, the top green is definitely a cooler color. it will pop differently than the bottom. but they both will pop with all white. the top green will go well with black accents (like they show you here). they both with go well with primary-color accents.

i'm giving you some (unsolicited LOL) advice because the green for our kitchen was very very tricky (took me a solid day of 'testing' to decide). looked very different on the walls and with shadowing. the white cabinets, ceiling and applicances will reflect on the paint, too, which means that the color will be truer . hope this helps.

I definitely appreciate the advice! Your kitchen is gorgeous!

I have a very small kitchen. The countertops are a laminate that's kind of a speckled look - with mauve-ish background color.

Appliances are white.
bakers rack is white
kitchen island is dark wood with a dark granite top

Floor will be porcelain tile that looks like white wood. (Haven't chosen it yet but saw some when picking the bathroom tiles).

i LOVE the island. SOOOOOO cool

i think youre prolly on the right track with the cooler green. will go nice with the black top on the island. but, if the laminate counter tops is the color that is actually against the green, id have to see the laminate to weigh in on that, LOL...

btw, it seems we have the same color schemes, but in reverse. my counter tops that go against the wall color are dark and my island is speckled! my cabinets arent really white, a pure white at all. they are white but with a caramel glaze over them.

If you live in an old house like I do and have plaster walls, it makes a huge difference to get paint that is eggshell finish. My FIL who is a painter recommended we get it when he painted my son's room and the finish is beautiful. Glossy and Flat paints show all the flaws, but the eggshell finish is just the right mix.

We had to spend a little more on the paint but it was worth it.

I know I posted a pic a while back of some Christmas cookies I made that were sitting on the countertop. I tried searching before with no luck. I'll try again later or will take some new ones.

Right now the cabinets are a minty green and the walls are blue - not quite as deep as the blue Canadia posted but similar.

The Green in that top picture is actually Behr named grass cloth :)

Where are the cabinets from?

I don't have a laundry room! My washer and dryer are in a hallway and there is a bedroom next to them and then a pass through area to the outside...it is now painted antique white! I would love to move if I could!

I LOVE your kitchen, especially the spacious island.

thank you. i really appreciate it.

the kitchen was remodeled about 5 or 6 years ago. those cabinets are a mixture of pre-existing (dark oak) that were re-finished in several ways, and custom cabinets.

the guy who made them was at one time a designer for Stickley furniture. i found him purely by chance. and he was doing only independent jobs at the time.

nice guy, talented, but a huge EGO and difficult to deal with at times. A LOT of work, actually. but, in the end the finished product was all i cared about

thanks again
