"better freedom with danger, than peace with slavery"
Don't agree with it!! We don't fly often, but will definitely avoid it now.
#1) I will NEVER be comfortable with my (young) children's bodies shown basically naked to strangers OR their being patted down. I don't care how carefully these faceless employees were hired or how great their background checks look.

#2) I am concerned about unnecessary radiation exposure, especially in children.
#3) I am shocked that a person who has second thoughts about the security procedures is not allowed to back out, without severe legal/financial penalties. "Once you enter and start the process you have to complete it?" $11k fines? Incredible!
The fine for backing out is that when you buy a plane ticket, you have made an agreement to fly on that plane. You will fly or face a penalty, particularly if you go to the airport then balk at the security check. You could well be a terrorist who is making a possible dry run or just testing the security measures. Not being able to back out of it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Lex was 18 months old and had to have a full body pat down. Let me see if I can find my post as to how fun that was.
Ah yes, here it is:

When my DD was 6 months old, she had on shoe/socks and they made me take them off her to go through the scanner....it was hilariosu to me. They were thick sock with a decoration to make them look like shoes.
But of course the part that ticks you off is that that woke her up.

You know he'll be telling that story over and over again.

ummmm it sucks BUT people smuggle crap in or steal at stores using their babies ALL THE TIME
a body scan or a pat down to prevent the loss of innocent life is hardly anything to do with FREEDOM. your freedom is not being taken away. you can choose to not FLY or fly privately , there are many PRIVATE airfields that fly people every day who wish to avoid the scanner or pat down.
respectfully disagree it is a FREEDOM THING
Hopefully enough people will choose not to fly, and the TSA will be pressured to relax their security measures, to bring back the business!

A place to debate everything and anything!
