Here are some images:

To give you an idea of what some of these scanners can see. All of the above will show a weapon otherwise it will look more like an invasion of privacy.

those pictures disturb me a little...I didn't realize you coudl actually see the shape of breasts and stuff...I am ok with it if I must fly, but I don't know about my kids being seen "naked" like that. Especially if I had a well developed pre-teen/teen girl. But I guess I don't want her groped either, so I can understand some of the fuss now I guess.

Wondering if there have been LOTS of new job applications filled out lately and if THOSE people are screened

maybe I am staring to much, but the pics cant be of actual scans of clothes people unless those women weren't wearing bras...too must seperation where a bra would lift and bring together more.

I thought I read somewhere that children under 12 were excluded? Or, maybe they were talking about doing this?

I'm thinking of a Michael Corleone quote here.
- oh, wait I'm not allowed to go off topic and show other examples of the government trying to protect people.
I'll correctly assume that this is directed at me.

This is prefaced with a huge sigh. You can talk about whatever you want. What I said was that I am not (still not) interested in following tangents of the topic within this thread.

When discussing the violation of 4th Amendment rights regarding scanners and pat-downs in this thread, I personally had (have) no interest in discussing the 2nd Amendment rights in this thread, or any other rights we are, or have been, stripped of, by our piece of **** government.

I'm more than happy to discuss why we should all be able to have guns, as is our right, and further discuss the clear right to carry them on airplanes too. Somewhere else.

My (flagging) interest in this thread pertains to rights denied us by our government in order to fly on an airplane, and any other facets of the issue that interest me, and are related.

That's why I thought it was silly to see Pan Am 103 suddenly tossed into the mix. So now we'd have to discuss that too? Nothing we do now would have prevented that plane from being destroyed. Early warnings weren't heeded, and inside jobs with the luggage area are still completely reasonable.

I just simply have no interest in the tangents. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. This is a "don't" one for me.

I heard yesterday that children under 12 are now off limits. It supposedly changed this week.

It seems to be a very common reference here, ya know, talking about the right to fly or the lack thereof, and not being forced to fly, and yada yada yada.

For purposes of clarity, pay close attention to these words, as to avoid even more misunderstandings.

If the airlines, on their own, put these procedures in place, that would be their right as businesses to do so. I guarantee though, the airlines would never bother. Their right to do as they please supersedes our personal rights.

However, it is our government, the one charged with protecting our rights .. you know, those ones that are inalienable .. and this same government is the one denying us our rights.

As I've mentioned more than once, there is no need ... NO NEED to deny people's rights in order to provide valuable, workable security to travelers. Plain and simple.

umm.....no matter how hard the argument is fought that rights are being trampled on vs the option to fly or not to fly one thing is being VERY MUCH overlooked: IF SOMEONE IS GOING TO BLOW UP A PLANE THEY DONT GIVE A **** ABOUT A ****ING SCANNER. THEY WILL FIND A WAY AND DO IT. Until you take humans out of the equation all together you cannot avoid it. Trampling over basic human rights and torturing small children doesnt make it any better or validate anything, it just makes the bad people think harder. A bodyscanner isnt going to stop every single terrorist in their tracks. It doesnt make me feel any safer than I did before. It SHOULD NOT make ANYBODY feel safer. Its a smokescreen to a problem the government simply cannot solve, but surely can suck the money out of every taxpayer who "chooses" to have their rights violated so it appears that something is being done. If you disagree, drive around an airport. How hard is it to actually GAIN access to a plane? To baggage? To personnel information, equipment, and uniforms? sheesh.

If I were in charge of TSA and wanted to do cost-effective screening, the first thing I'd do would be to set up red flags for young males who purchase one-way tickets for cash at the last minute. Wouldn't that have eliminated most of the bombers? Oh, wait, then I wouldn't have a huge bureaucracy to run and lots of power to wield. I knew there was a reason I wouldn't last in politics...
