What FTP do you use?

How useful is it? Its come as a default program on the Ubuntu OS?
Well what you do is you select "Connect to Server" from the file menu in 11.04 and enter your login details for the ftp server and voila.
I find it much easier than Filezilla, because of the fact that it's just like if the files were on your computer, you can do just about everything with them. I can connect in a couple seconds and edit a file in the text editor, save it, and my changes are reflected instantly, whereas with Filezilla I have to download the file, edit it, and then reupload it.
Some people may prefer Filezilla for its extra features such as bandwidth limiting, but I like using Ubuntu's file manager.

Sounds pretty handy, so im guessing its default in Ubuntu?

I've always used FileZilla and tbh I probably wouldn't ever use anything else.
It's one of those situations I am happy and feel confident using what I know best and have always used.
I don't adapt well to change so I think I will be with Filezilla for the foreseeable future.

I dont see myself changing either, Filezilla has everything I need. I still use the cpanel File Manager from time to time. When upgrading the board as its much faster when you upload and extract the zipped file on the server through the cpanel file manager but where on filezilla it takes time.

That's because Filezilla unfortunately lacks the ability to extracts zip files, which I think is stupid :( I've wasted countless hours uploading the extracted files before I realized I could extract them on the server using the CPanel filemanager.

Yea thats one thing I hate about FileZilla, many others don't know that they can extract/compress from the Cpanel File Manager and its fast instead of manually doing it on your desktop, and uploading it through filezilla which is slow.

You are the second person I know now that is using it, how do you like it so far?

so far I do not have a problem when uploading files to the hosting via CuteFTP. I think the user interface is also simple as windows explorer. And the site manager has been quite useful to keep our hosting account. so, when open CuteFTP just click on the connect is enough. commands is also easy. just right click and execute. that's I know so far.

Yea, sounds good. I have heard nothing but good things on it.

I use FileZilla its the best that I have used and its free can't beat those stats
Yea you really cant, it truly is an amazing program. Although now I use the cPanel FTP just as much as Filezilla because the cpanel FTP is so much faster.

I like Net2FTP and Filezilla.

Same here. I just started using Net2FTP a couple weeks back through my then free hosting company. I didn't think it would be any good but it's actually an amazing FTP site. They let you upload a zip file and then unzip it into the directory of your choice. With the pro version of my account, they include the same FTP service and I'm just as happy with that having good previous experience with this particular FTP site. The previous hosting company used a Java based FTP and it was such a hassle cause it would stall halfway through an upload leaving me to try to figure out which files had to be uploaded and which ones were in the sub-directories. Anyway, my point is, this works for me. I'll keep using it.
