i like reading short stories and books by Jaqueline Wilson.:eusa_clap :wav:
 
Fantasy, Science Fiction, Horror, anything written by: Micheal Chrichton, Edgar Allen Poe, Clive Cussler, Terry Brooks..... and the list goes on.
 
I'm usually a fan of military books, intrigue stories, thrillers and the like. I also read non-fiction quite a bit. History and politics mostly
 
fantasy and sci-fi mainly. i've branched out to mystery a couple times. educational books are sometimes fun :), i read a cool one about the history of cryptography. i'm sure i could read lotsa different genres if i 1. read more and 2. gave them a chance :)
 
i like pretty much anything, if i can get into it. mostly i center around sci-fi and fanticy.'
Broz i agree with you totally enders game is my fav book of all time. the sequels were pretty goo also but i liked the paralells almost as good as i liked enders game. they are all about bean and they are a totally different style they are more polititical-military manuvering, the whole trying to conquer the world type of thing. very good read.
also, i know i mentioned this before but if you have a summer to waste read the wheel of time, best series ever, it might take less time if youre more dedicated(like me) but it is quite an investment in time, but well worth it, im on my 3rd time through

If you liked Ferenhiet 451 check out the movie equalibrium, ITs FREAKING GREAT!

Im also a huge sci fi fan. I love Asimov and I just finished a book called sister alice by robert reed. Its a good'un check it out if you have the time.

i'm working on year 6 and book 5 (maybe 6) of trying to finish that series lol. granted i've read lotsa other books in the mean time..but yeah...6 years for half the series!! lol
 
I like it when they take a modern setting and add just a spin of the fantastic..such as American Gods, or the books by Douglas Preston (The Relic, Brimstone). Also a personal favorate of The DaVinci Code.


Other then that mostly Fantasy..

I read through the Wheel of Time the last time I was out here, and while there was a good story to it, the problem I had whas that while alot of authors have bad chapters..Jordan has bad whole books. Book 8 was horrid, as was Book 10. But Book 9 in my opinion was the best in the series. I can only hope that he picks it back up in Book 11 and actually shows some of the impact of what happined in Book 9.

Another good series is George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones, Clash of Kings, Storm of Swords, and soon Feast for Crows). It's an execellent series and everyone that I know that has read it after Jordan has enjoyed the series. Politics, backstabbing, a 4 sided war where it's hard for even the reader to pick which side they want to win.

Brimstone was a great book, not sure if it was my Fav in the series though, I really enjoyed Cabinet of Curosities. I like the way that slowly your learning more about these characters, but you dont have to pick up any of the previous books to understand whats going on, with the exception of Reliquary which is a direct sequal to The Relic.

we talked about that one in some other thread around here...i read that inbetween books for the wheel of time :). i like them better i think, the ones by martin. but then i haven't read a wheel of time book in about a year now...i'm taking a break from fantasy with some douglas adams. highly recommending any of his dirk gently books.
 
Douglas Adams is great. I enjoyed the Hitchhiker's Guide and will watch the movie, though a long dark teatime for the soul was a good book also :)
