What veggies are always on your shopping list? It's rare that I feel like celery but miss it terribly if I run out of...

broccoli
cabbage or bok choy
carrots
cauliflower
cukes
daikon
eggplant, italian or asian
mesclun or bagged salad ~ I've become lazy
mushrooms
onions, yellow
onions, red or sweet
parsley
peppers, red
scallions
snow peas
spinach, frozen is ok

Plus I need to have an almost constant supply of sprouts, mung and alfalfa/radish/broccoli. Grow these myself.

um.........none of the above. :hides: We're not big on veggies. The most we do is canned corn, canned green beans, carrots (in stews and soups) and occassionaly broccoli (I love it, but DH is "meh") about it. I like salad once in a while (like today) but it's the bag salad with shredded cheddar cheese, bacon bits, croutons and ranch dressing.

Oh and I always have onions on have because I cook with them a lot (never eat them raw though).

Tender baby peas
Lots of salad
summer squash
winter squash
tomatoes
I love raw Icama

broccoli
bok choy, baby or regular
carrots
garlic
ginger
jalapenos
onions, yellow
onions, red
peppers, green
peppers, red
romaine
scallions
snow peas
spinach
sugar snap peas
tomatoes

and our ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE FAVORITE.................

CILANTRO!!!!! :stretch: :bliss: :stretch:

were not big on veggies either we have frozen green beans and stuff, canned green beans and stuff, lettuce (for tacos), Potatos (for oven fries) and onions (becouse they are yummy in lots of stuff)

Everything on your list. If I make it to Asian store, I look for:

bitter melon
lotus root
Chinese cabbage
radish
ginger
green mustard
edamame
angled luffa

I've never even heard of some of this stuff. I buy what's on sale or what I might need for a recipe. Usually just the basics.

OMG, I blanked out.

How could I forget squash, tomatoes, ginger, sugar snap peas, sweet potatoes & russets? :faint:

I'm a major tomato snob too. No store bought tomato ever tastes as good as garden grown.

I was thinking the same thing plus I never seen a lot of it at my stores.

Did anyone mention brussel sprouts? My lil sis loves those.

We also eat a lot of garlic. I buy them in bulk (4-5 lbs) at Ethnic stores, peel and mince in the food processor, then soak them in olive oil and use as needed.

The basics...

Lettuce/Spinach
Potatoes of all sorts
Onions
Mushrooms
Carrots
Celery
Cabbage
Bell Peppers

& Whatever looks tempting...

The ones I listed are the must haves....always in the house.

We also use squash, egg plant, fresh peas, lettuce

you don't want to know about fresh frut?

That'll be a whole new thread.

Pretty basic here too -
salad greens - I've been getting the fresh bagged at the local farmers market
cucumbers
tomatoes - prefer the small ones - grape or campari
green peppers
potatoes
onions - yellow

not as often:
zucchini
broccoli
cauliflower

Fresh or frozen only, no canned for us

My staples are:

Broccoli! (My son's fav! He picks it over fries at a restaurant)
Green Beans
Carrots
Peppers, red and green and others on a whim
Onions
Red Potatoes
Russet Potatoes
Sweet Potatoes
Grape Tomatoes (really a fruit but most call a veggie)
Slicing Tomatoes
Spinach (raw)
Mushrooms
Garlic
Butternut Squash
Summer Squash
Cucumber
Celery
Avocado
Corn
Corn on the Cob

For fun I like to get Jicama or Ginger or Cauliflower

Most of mine have been mentioned... except I also frequently buy kale, baby spinach, portabella mushrooms, green onions, ... so many fruits, its ridiculous! So glad we have a couple different ethnic markets (read: Cheap yet excellent) to choose from in Northern Lake County. Then there is 1 in k-town that I'll hit if I am up that way. Woodmans is NOT cheap but they have an extensive choice!
