I have to say Deron Williams. The Nets just gave up too much. Williams just about got the Jazz to the playoffs each but then he had guys like Boozer & AK47. He doing nothing in New Jersey. The Wins are just not there.

I was going to say Amare, but Deron is more correct.

Dirk Nowitzki and his super lucky fade-away are the most overrated in the league. Mavs aren't seeing a repeat this year and you can quote me on that.

I'm going to go with Carmelo. This is a guy who is often considered a superstar who has never really been anything more than a talented chucker who plays no defense. The main thing that kills me watching Carmelo is that he is immensely talented but simply doesn't seem to care enough to really play as hard as he can.

He has some great offensive moves, but also scores are pretty low efficiency and struggles to do very much when his jumpshot isn't falling.

Anyone else agree?

I also agree. It burns me up when these players that are so skilled on offense give a crappy job playing D. A truly good player knows, strong defense sets up a good offense.

Primarily, it just bothers me to see players who don't seem to have any drive to win.

With Carmelo, it's clear to me that he enjoys the spotlight and attention, but doesn't have the competitive fire that the great players of yesterday had.

Watching Michael Jordan (much as it pains me as a jazz fan), you could see that more than anything, he hated to lose. Watching someone like Carmelo, I just don't get the same sense.

Yeah I agree. Things are so much commercial now that people get so caught up in the perks of their career choice rather than the real job at hand which in this case is playing great basketball and more importantly winning games.

YES. I agree 100%. Emphasis on the winning games part. That's all that should matter!

Carmelo Anthony. I don't see why he is so highly rated. Terrible ball hog.

Lebron - hell you can't doubt his talent, but until he wins the play offs he'll always be regarded as a choker for me. Jordan MVP + rings, Kobe MVP + rings, Lebron MVP + sweet F.A.

And I've no idea how anyone can say Dirk is overrated?! He brought a fresh dimension in how to play forward and finally got a well deserved title.

It's hard to say Lebron is overrated. He gets so much hate but look at his numbers!

This year he is averaging 28 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists on 55% from the field?!?! That is quite possibly the best season of all time if he keeps it up. He hasn't played as well in the playoffs, but he's certainly not overrated. If that is your criteria, everyone but Kobe is overrated.

Stats at the end of the day mean nothing, it's all about winning and scoring the points at the most vital time. Look at MJ - had the stats, but always had the clutch. When Lebron starts hitting them vital shots then he can be considered a great.

Lebron gets so much hype, that is why he has to deliver rings. No one else gets the hype he does (well Lin at the moment) in NBA. Even bloody espn have a separate Miami Heat page , how biased is that?

"Mee"-lo!

I totally agree with you. I'm a long time knicks fan. Feels good to say that nowadays. lol;) When we gutted our whole team for Mee-lo I was totally against the move. He's a talent player but he's not a super star. A super star makes other players better. Sure he's a scoring machine but what good is that if you're not as good defensively or getting other people involved. He has gotten better with his assist prior to the groin injury.

I'm hoping that when he gets back his overall game will improve because of all the great ball movement that our team now has because of Lin. So we'll see.
But there is a reason why the comparison between Lebron and him faded. Lebron is a beast but a willing passer that can make his other team mates better. That's a super star in my opinion.

Lebron for me. He is easily the best player in the league during the regular season, but he can't get it done in the clutch. People hail him as the future G.O.A.T. but until he starts winning when it matters, I don't see it.

I think it's crazy people are saying Lebron is overrated as well. I'm not a fan, but he will go down one of the greats and probably rank above Kobe when it's all said and done.

Agree, I was thinking this, every time I watched him play there weren't really "sparks" flying off, sure he's a good player but he seems to be too much hyped up.

I think Manu Ginobili is the most overrated player in the NBA. It's not as bad now as it was several years ago when the Spurs were favorites to win. Remember in the 05 finals when people were calling for him to win MVP? Guy's been riding Duncan's coattails his entire career.

Honorable mention to chuckers who get mistaken for three-point specialists (Eddie House) or big men who jump all over the place like idiots and usually foul but get the occasional block (Samuel Foulembert, Tyrus Thomas)

It's funny reading LBJ and ANTHONY saying they are overrated. They are superstars and franchise players. It's just that Anthony's game doesn't fit on his team. There is we called chemistry too. Overrated for me is also Deron Williams who happen to join the All star too where he is totally undeserving. A lot of good players were snubbed.

Dirk Nowitzki and his super lucky fade-away are the most overrated in the league. Mavs aren't seeing a repeat this year and you can quote me on that.

I used to think Dirk Nowitzki was overrated. I thought that the guy hated contact in the post and prefers to do nothing else but shoot jump shots. Now I no longer think so. Shooting at a high clip his entire career is hardly luck though. Most 7-footers can't shoot to save their lives, nor are they nearly as coordinated.

Right now I would say Kevin Love is the most overrated. I don't care for his stats that much, no matter how monstrous. Why is it that the Wolves have only started winning games once Rubio came to town?

CARMELO ANTHONY. Everyone thinks he is hands down the best pure scorer in the league. Even though he is very clutch, I disagree completely. LeBron, Durant, and Kobe can put the ball in the basket easier than Carmelo.
