On Monday, Elon Musk bought Twitter for forty-four billion dollars. Musk, the C.E.O. of Tesla and the richest man on earth, plans to take the social-media company private, and has said that he wants Twitter to adhere more closely to the principles of free speech, which, in a statement, Musk called “the bedrock of a functioning democracy.” (In the same statement, he described Twitter as the “digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”) Musk himself is a frequent tweeter, and it is assumed that he will continue to use the platform, and potentially reinstate the account of former President Donald Trump. He is also thought to be less likely to ban people for violations of the platform’s policies, which themselves may change.

I wonder where Twitter is going to go now.

I have a Twitter account, but honestly I'm just not a fan of social media platforms. I prefer forums over anything, so him buying Twitter doesn't really upset me nor am I thrilled. I do think that Twitter needs to be more neutral rather than one sided, however I'm not even sure how Elon Musk is going to make that happen.

I don't even care so much about the reason why Elon Musk bought Twitter. The only thing that I have interest in would be let him use the medium now to promote Dogecoin so that it becomes very valuable. I know that he's capable of doing that the way he did it with BTC.

It is laughable that he made emphasis on free speech. I mean when you compare Twitter and Facebook, you will notice that Facebook got some strict rules in terms of ensuring rules are followed. There might be reasons behind this takeover that he is not telling the public and only can tell.

This is why I am not a fan of Facebook for any reason whatsoever. You can't say anything freely without getting banned. I was banned for 3 months the last time I did something against their so called rules.

That's Facebook for you! You either play by their rules or watch yourself being suspended. Whether it has brought sanity on the app, I can't tell, but I am sure they are the biggest social media network at the moment.

I am interested in seeing what happens to the direction of Twitter now than Musk has bought it. It seems like things are going to change inside Twitter and I don't know how the staff at Twitter thinks about. I think now is the time to join the platform to be able to see what changes happen. Maybe Musk will finally add an edit button that everyone wants, haha!

If you have read Fountain Head by Ayn Rand, you will understand why Musk bought Twitter. He wants to be an owner of the media that shapes people's perceptions.
