I am fully aware that OS X includes several versions, but I'm just going to class it as OS X overall.
Out of the different options, which do you prefer and why?
I haven't really used OS X, only when I was in my Media Studies lessons for Final Cut Pro or in my Music class in senior school... I don't really feel I can judge it just from that, but it was different to say the least and took a while for me to get used to it.
I'm going to go with Windows 7. I absolutely hate Vista and Windows 8.
I can only comment on Vista, Win 7 and 8 as I have only really used OSX for a short while.
Windows Vista - Wasn't too bad, if you had the hardware to run it properly. It was incredibly heavy, so on less capable machines it was terrible. For gaming it wasn't good.
Windows 7 - Currently using it and love it.
Windows 8 - Used it for about 4 months but ended up reverting back to Windows 7. I was using the Start8 app to bring back the start button, but I didn't like the fact that you cannot get rid of Windows 8's tiles properly. Don't get me wrong, Windows 8 load times are a lot less than Windows 7, but tiles don't work on a non touch PC. On a touchscreen device it is an epic operating system.
Using a operating system for me depends on the task at hand. If it is a multimedia project, I would prefer to use Mac OS X because of its versatility, but for normal daily operations, I would use Windows 7
