Opera seems to be dismissed to a certain extent. Many people think the sopranos screech and who can understand the language anyway?

I hear the voice as another instrument, the meaning of the words don't matter to me.

My favourite opera is 'La Traviata' What's yours?

I have never been to an opera. I find it too difficult to make out the words opera singers are saying, and i find that a huge turnoff for me. I like to know what im listening too.

Maybe its just because i havent seen enough of them. Maybe i jsut need to aquire a trained ear. Only time will tell!

I have never seen a live opera performance, but I do love to listen the arias, especially those which are performed by the great tenors (Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Andrea Bocelli).

I haven't had chance to see a live opera performance either though I would love to. I love classical music and songs, and yeah, Pavarotti is one of my favorite tenors. Though, I also love other genres of music like pop and metal.

Bizet is one of my favourites. I love "Carmen" (and also the film Carmen Jones) and "The Pearl Fishers" duet is absolutely gorgeous even though I can't understand the words.
