What kinda mouse ya got?
I just got the Logitech infrared mouse w/3 buttons, scroller, and uhh, infrared...hehe
The extra button is cool cause it's a double-click button, cept you don't hafta double click, just click once on that button! And I highly recommend a infrared mouse if ya got the dough, cuz it runs really smooth!

And what kinda joystick ya got?
I just got the CYBORG 3D GOLD joystick. Rather technical, but cool! It has the regular axis, then that can turn to the left or right a little, and at the top of the stick it has an axis thing for something...dunno what. Also has a thrust lever, and many buttons! If you have 50 smackers i HIGHLY recommend this! It may look rather odd and stumping at first, but take it home and use it!

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I would like you to wonder your eyes toward another one of Napoli's posts, for it will complete your life

Before Christmas, I had a logitech scroll mouse trackball.

Now, I have a Microsoft Intellimouse with the red eye, and as this mouse is optical, I won't go back to a trackball.

JH> I have the same Logitech Mouseman Marble +, and love it. I'll never go back to a mouse. Been using a trackball almost since I started using PCs (roughly, back in the 286 days), and just prefer the fact that I don't have to move my entire arm around to move the mouse normally.

If you're interested in having the best of both worlds, Microsoft released an Intellimouse Explorer Trackball.
Basically, it's an optical technology trackball, but in essence, so was the Trackman Marble. If you look inside it, there are no moving parts, just the motion sensor that tracked the dots on the ball.

Well, actually, even the old mice were optical to some degree. The Microsoft two button mouse used a ball to turn x and y wheels that had divets. An optical sensor counted the divets to determine motion.

My experience was that I broke these mice by playing games, so I switched to a trackball, and they lasted much longer, for me. I used the original Trackman Marble for 3 years before replacing it with the newer marble and then later with an Intellimouse. I wanted to be able to turn faster in CS and UT.

All three mice have been great, and I recommend them all to anyone.

So, then why switch to the mouse?

I needed the faster turn rates that the mouse seems to provide for me in CS. I've tried both the mouse and trackball in FPS shooters, and the mouse is better for me, really.

I got myself a Microsoft IntelliEye Explorer a couple weeks after they were first released. I was worried that I had bought it too soon. Fortunately, the 70 dollar price tag never went down after 2 months

DD> As trackballs go, it's the best. Right now, I have both on my computer.

EDIT: This seems to be a general tech thread, to me, so I shall move it.

I figured it revolved around gaming hardware, so it seemed appropriate to me before.
It works in either forum, I suppose.

I really didn't get the whole "optical mouse" revolution, especially considering that the Trackman Marble, which uses optical technology, has been out for the better part of 4 years.
I suppose that, to some people, it makes a difference whether the ball, or lack thereof, is on the top or bottom.
