    Karaoke Rentals? Really?

Set up and break down takes minutes, training takes about 10 minutes. Works for me and I get repeat customers. For example, the one I have on the 12th, I am dropping off the system, then going to do a wedding and then picking up the system the next day. $250 more than I would have for having...

    Karaoke Rentals? Really?

We rent our karaoke system. The computer is a rack mounted. They have 8,000 karaoke songs and 10k dj songs to choose from. There is a book for the karaoke songs, but all can be easily looked up on computer. Computer, 2 mics, powered speakers. We set it up, show you how to use it, pick it up...

When computers can fix that....I'll be really impressed:sqwink:

What You DON'T Like About Hosting .....

If I was doing weekly Karaoke shows, and I was getting a lot of singers requesting certain versions of songs, I'd simply put a spot on a slip that says : version request______ so anyone that was familiar with the versions could tell me what they wanted. Problem solved. I can't imagine...

What You DON'T Like About Hosting .....

Joe, If you were a singer at a party i was doing, I could switch it instantly to the version you wanted. But someone like you would ask me beforehand if I had a certain version and I could tell you right away. Not a big deal, and not a common occurance at a private party. For 99.9999% of the...

What You DON'T Like About Hosting .....

Like Danny and Steve......Nope. Don't do that much Karaoke, so rarely have "serious" Karaoke singers, which seem to be the only ones concerned about the version. They can ask for a version if they'd like. When I first went to latshaw books, we listed the song and then abbr which mfr we...

What You DON'T Like About Hosting .....

We stopped putting disc numbers in books a long time ago. Saves space and we weren't using them anyway.

What You DON'T Like About Hosting .....

For me, the think i hated the most is looking for the cd where it should be to find that the cd is not there and need to find where the cd was put. The other thing I hated was someone wanting to change their song once they got up there. Now it's not a problem.

    Computers vs discs for karaoke

I've had disc players go down far more often than I've ever had computers go down. Doors seemed to be the things that went the most. Now, to be fair, when I was using discs and doing karaoke on a regular basis, it was at bars with lots of smokers and I can't say the equipment was top notch...

    Computers vs discs for karaoke

I was using discs for years. I am one of the ones that CANNOT hear the difference between CDG and mp3+g. I did have a singer a while back bring up his cdg. I told him I have the song(same version) on computer. He said he wants the disc played because it sounds much better. I said, no...

    Computers vs discs for karaoke

Joe, totally agree. It needs to be a personal preference first and foremost. Like I said, if discs are working for you, and you tried computers, then more power to you...you should stay with discs. I guess the biggest point of "disagreement" would be that using computers takes up all of...

    Computers vs discs for karaoke

Totally agree...it is across the board. When I used to do weddings with discs, I often paid an assistant to come with me to get me songs, load cd's, while I was Mcing. Something I no longer need because the computer takes care of those tasks now.

    Computers vs discs for karaoke

Since the other thread was closed, I'd like to discuss it here. First let me say that while I use computers, I find nothing wrong with still using discs. If someone is more comfortable using discs and doesn't feel the need to change, I don't think they should. Stick to what works for YOU...

OK, this one IS a Luddite post....

Joe, When someone's tags are completely messed up and needs time to fix, that is a person's problem, NOT a computer problem. It's kinda of like using CDG's and then putting them back in any open slot and not worrying about putting them back in the right place. Would it make sense to then...

OK, this one IS a Luddite post....

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't spend any time fixing, debugging, or doing anything with computers. Maybe its because I buy software that I trust to not be buggy. I don't have the time, or care to spend the time to fix problems with computers. I agree that it would negate the...

OK, this one IS a Luddite post....

Joe, Again, just talking about my experience, but I spent much more time "debugging" jammed cd doors or scratched cds then I ever have doing things with computers. I spend very, very little time doing things with the computers to get them ready for a show. Like anything, when changing to a...

OK, this one IS a Luddite post....

Joe, There is no way for me to say it is faster for you to use a computer. However, I can say it is EXTREMELY faster and overall easier for ME to use a computer...along with just about every DJ/KJ I know. like anything, nothing is perfect and the computer has it's challenges. But I have...

Hope You Didn't Buy The Wrong Ones!

To me, Karoake Kurrents 2008 means current songs that came out in 2008. I looked at the fake one from Parma(my neighborhood..I'm pretty sure I know who it is, but cannot be certain). Very few of the songs on this "2008" list are songs from 2008. Many are from 60's to 90's

Time to put my karaoke plan in action.

Totally agreed. Great strategy in both posts. Do not sell yourself on the number of tracts you have, because someone can always have more. It's your ability to MC it properly that will get you the gig. Add more music as it is needed.
