Circumcision

I have two sons (almost 20 years old and 17 years old). 20 year old is a mushroom head, 17 year old is sporting a turtleneck.
DS 17 is wearing a turtleneck because insurance wouldn't pay for it when he was born. It paid when my oldest was born.....so I have one of each. No issues with the turtleneck kid so far *knock on wood. He hates when I ask him, every now and then, "Are you washing your winky really good? Making sure you don't have any gunk built up?"

The real fun is having to um, manually unplug someone who is impacted.

Ive done that too....not fun. Technically I wasnt suppose to do it :quiet:. There was a lady at the nursing home I worked at, we were pretty close, had the same birthday and she had a great sense of humor (once told me she woke of from a dream with a big smile on her face. She was in bed with her 2 husbands....lol) She was paralyzed from the waist down and had trouble down there...could not pee alone, had to have a catheter put in. She would also have alot of trouble pooping. Nurse was in a bad mood and insisted she could do it herself. She was crying and begging me to help her, so I did...with like 4 pairs of gloves on....lol.

You are a good woman Cari!

here is a great article to help you decide

I love how she suggests this>>>( gotta cover all your bases!)
(But if you do decide to do it, I suggest saving his foreskin in a jar so that you can give it back to him if he hassles you about it later. Then you have all your bases covered. Plus, it’s like keeping his first lock of hair in his baby book. Except it’s foreskin in a mason jar. It’s almost exactly the same thing. Except way grosser. I’m going to stop writing now.)

We chose not to circ. My husband was but based on all we read, we decided against. He was decidedly against it.

My older sister circ'ed her 2 and one got botched requiring additional surgery. This happens more times than I am comfortable with. Plus no pain meds for babies and they have to keep vaseline on their poor little cut penises to minimize the irritation... seriously the thought of this made me so sad.

I also figured in the end, we could always do it later and so could our son. At least that way he would have a voice in the decision rather than cutting off part of his body as an infant. He can read the studies and decide for himself if it's worthwhile or not.

I also think the "locker room" argument about being like everyone else is totally a moot point these days. As Canadia posted already, the statistics are shifting. Being uncircumcized is not going to put you in some weird minority in most situations.

Thanks again for your input, everyone! I talked with DH some more about it tonight. Usually he lets me do the reading and research and all that, then I tell him what I found, and we come to some sort of consensus. Tonight he said it makes his stomach churn to think about the procedure, and he doesn't really want to put his little boy through that. It's also possible our insurance won't cover it...we have the Ohio version of AllKids, and it definitely doesn't cover cosmetic procedures. I'm just not sure if they consider this to be cosmetic or not.

Wow, that's really gross! It reminds me of this girl I went to jr. high with...she got her tonsils taken out, and they gave them back to her in a jar. She brought them to school with her. Of course, she dropped them, and the jar broke. SO GROSS!! Now I'm imagining a teenager dropping and breaking a jar containing 15-year-old foreskin. Probably somewhere in my kitchen.

So what does sweatered pipe feel like as opposed to unsweatered pipe...is their a difference?

Come on ho's....tell us everything....

Wow the sweaters are fancy!
