It was so full of testosterone that you have to really be paying attention to know that it doesn't have anything else.

Early estimates from yahoo are saying a 70 million dollar opening weekend...and I want to see it.

It wasn't your typical Terminator 25... There's nothing worse than knowing the ending after the first 5 minutes of the movie.

I give it bonus points for that. So, I think it had a little more depth to it than just about every other action movie for the past 10 years.

I don't want to go into much detail, cause there are a lot of people who didn't see it yet.

Is it real depth or just a lot of really well done lines that will be repeated over and over again for locker room pep talks for the next couple of years? In fact, if not for the extreme violence and nice amount of nudity, I'd bet it would be the inspirational movie of choice for high school and college football coaches for the next couple of years. It is how Vince McMahon would do movies if he had that type of budget to work with.

Now granted that is more depth than most action movies, but that's really not saying too much. ^_^

I think there is a deeper meaning.

Basically, being the best, trying your hardest, and winning the fight isn't always enough. Even though that's not exactly how it went down.

You have to make sacrifices to be great. The strongest person is the one who will pay the greatest price for what is right. (Maybe they didn't pay the greatest price in their own eyes...)

Are people really going to sit through that whole movie and miss that message?

REUTERS Iran calls Hollywood blockbuster cultural "warfare"

I figured. :p

Oh please.

At least I am not calling for the banning of it like Iran is due to how it treats their culture. Or I'm not choosing to focus on the fact that all of the "perfect" white men and women are the glorious and righteous ones while any who are different are evil, grotesque are not worthy. Or maybe instead of your views on the price of "greatness" in the movie, I could take away from it that some things, like say freedom are worth paying any price for.

Or I could just stick with my original thought that the movie was done well enough to be enjoyable but didn't deliver on anything more meaningful than that unless you are just desperate for inspiration. :)

Well, you can't use any of those arguments, cause the reason they did it that way is because that's how it was told in history. How many black/indian greeks were there?

I don't expect you to argue any idea that wasn't yours to begin with anyways. :p

Right now, I don't really believe that anyone in that movie was fighting for freedom. While they all say they were, they weren't very convincing.

I still think it did a good job of expressing it's points.

So you think that movie is historically accurate?

But even so, when you look to read into a story like that for meaning you can stretch it's barriers to fit something you can understand since no one seeing this film has lived in 480 BC.

Here is another one, how about Leonidas as Pres Bush, casting aside the advice and concerns of his senate and advisors to follow his own ideas of what he feels is right despite how many of his people would have to die because of it? :D

I think everyone but Leonidas fought because that is all they were supposed to do and he inspired them enough to march.
