How Would I do this

Ok I have the design I like in mind, and Im planning on using tables, but as im just a beginer I need a little help on how to go about something like this. See attached file for the design <note> Dont look at the colors they were random and not i repeat not what im planning on using </note>

For something like that, wouldn't frames be more appropriate?

That they might be, now how would i go about that. or does anyone know where there are some really good tutorials, other then html goodies??

What I would recommend you do is either find a page that is set up the way you want it, and view the source code to see how it was acheived, or use a program like FrontPage, Netscape Composer, or some other website creation program, layout the page the way you want it using the WYSIWYG tools, and check the source to see how it's done.

Noo! Frames are the evil spawn of the devil, and they create lots of hassle when submitting your sites to search engines, this is actually a very simple table ..

.. you should be able to figure out how to change the colors and sizes and stuff, its pretty self explanitory, and if ya need anymore help .. just ask!

EDIT: While I was posting this Dan posted, Prox man, seriously .. do not use frames, they are a hassle for users who need to bookmark specific pages on the site and it causes hassle with placing your site in a search engine. Please ask me if you need any help with that template I gave ya! Just view the source to see how things are done and whatnot.

While frames can be a hassle, all of the symptoms you've described arise when people don't know how to implement them properly.

I can't tell you how many pages I've seen use frames that are absolutely horrendous, but I've also seen pages where they help bring the whole site together.

It all depends on who's designing the page.

Dan, I agree, but, tables combined with SSI can create pretty much the same effect as frames without as much hassle to search engines and bookmarks.
