I am getting ready to go to the dollar store to see if I can find some pirate stickers. I found a "treasure-chest" at a liquidation center for twenty bucks and my brother and I thought it would be really cool to do a real treasure hunt for the kids during the camping trip. We filled the chest with candy and toys that they could play with outdoors, and I spray-painted some Jamaican ginger-beer bottles of pop a kind of sage green and put "Ye Olde Extra Powerful Pirate Ginger-Beer" labels on it, but I think if I could find some piratey skull-and-crossbones for the label it would make it very cool indeed. When we get there I will be making up a map (I pre-treated the paper so the edges are all burnt and rough and it's been "aged" with some cocoa powder) when we get there and my brother will be using the game as a kind of beginning to teach them orienteering, so he will be getting them, and teaching them to use, a compass. There will be four kids total, two little girls and the two nephews. I am getting excited. We will wrap the chest in a garbage bag and then in burlap and dig a hole and bury it early Sunday morning while they're still sleeping. And, yes, we will be putting a biodegradable "X" to mark the spot. View attachment 4236View attachment 4235
