Whoa, Ann! I think you're just gonna have to STAY on your side :giggles:

but seriously,... isn't there a special crossing spot for pedestrians?

My dh and I have this argument all the time. We live right near a round-about (8 intersections in all) and I will stop in the circle so a pedestrian can cross. He says no because it is dangerous and could cause an accident.

And as a pedestrian at times, it scares the crap out me to cross there; esp with the kids.

Who's right??

Just my opinion: If there's a crosswalk somewhere in the intersection, pedestrians should cross there and only there. Drivers should stop for them, and be aware that other drivers may stop there too. If drivers are alert, then stopping at the crosswalk shouldn't cause an accident (as long as the driver who stops doesn't screech to a halt). It would be a good idea to find out if your state has a law requiring drivers to stop/ yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.

If there's no crosswalk anywhere there, then there really should be.

I do sometimes stop for jaywalkers, if I think it is safe to do so.

And if you deem it unsafe.. do you just ram em?? ;)

My neighbor keeps putting his just-turned tiny little 5 year old daughter in the front seat of their suv when taking her to preschool. :ranting:

Now that's an interesting idea.
Actually I'm talking about if they're trying to cross or in the median...I'll only stop to allow them to cross if there's no other vehicles right behind me.

I know...I haven't been hiding under a rock all this time. That's one reason I like your posts. I just like to be clear in my writing, that's all.

I'll add more driving pet peeves: people who drive past school busses when they have the stop sign up (see this rarely but it's really wrong).

People who don't pull over when there's an emergency vehicle with sirens/ flashing lights trying to get through.

People who won't let funeral processions through.

My pet peeve:

Upon entering the restroom at work and turning on the light only to find that the switch is wet. Eww yuck! I have to wash my hands before handling my junk.

Ewww...

Now the georgie would look at it as though the person clearly washed their hands, but did not dry them thoroughly...

Clearly, you are thinkin sumtin else...

I would side with caution though.

When i hear a person say how they're on some type of disability & can't work but brag about how they just shopped for 6 hours or more doing all the deals.
What the hell kinda disabled are ya? I'm using a wheelchair with a trach in my throat & don't qualify for disability. And i sure as hell can't shop for 6 or more hours. Maybe i'm just to disabled ????Guess i just don't know how to work the system.:ranting:
