It sounds like Tribes Ascend is ? for all intents and purposes ? a done deal. Its servers will continue to run (and jump and jetpack) of course, but there hasn?t been a major update since March, and Hi-Rez is making no bones about the reason why. Games like SMITE and inferior high-flying manshoot Global Agenda 2 have taken priority, and that won?t be changing any time soon.

It's unfortunate really because Tribes Ascend was a really, REALLY good game. Well, I enjoyed it anyway, and I know a handful of others who did (including Lauren, though mainly because she has a flag fetish). I spent around ?30 on this game despite it was free-to-play because I saw myself playing it for some time, but the updates gradually halted and the player base declined and I just gave up with it after awhile.

Shame really.

Never played it, had no reason to. The game isn't dead though, I don't understand why people are saying it is. Just because it hasn't received an update recently? Plenty of MP games haven't been updated in ages, but are still going strong.

Not dead, but the player base has declined significantly. Obviously that happens to every game, but Tribes Ascend didn't have a particularly huge population to begin with; when it was released on Steam a few thousand people began playing it, but by the next day there was only like two thousand. I just think many people couldn't get to grips with it.
