Should homosexuals be allowed to adopt kids?

I recall reading a few studies some time ago, which concluded that adopted children of gay parents performed better in school than those adopted by straight parents. I'll see if I can find it.

Of course they should be allowed to! Everyone deserves to have a child. I don't think it makes gay couples any different from straight couples.

Elton John and his partner David Furnish have been married for a couple years or so, and they have two kids!

I see nothing wrong with it.

I don't see anything wrong with a gay couple adopting a child, but personally I also believe that the parents gender shouldn't really be a consideration when it comes to raising one. I can't really imagine gender playing much of a role in a person's or couple's ability to raise a child into a responsible, mature adult; surely such capabilities would be more to do with their characteristics and values?

That said, I'm sure there will be cases where a homosexual couple will try to spread the idealism to their child of homosexuality being superior or as being "the one true sexual orientation", just as I'm sure an extreme (and wrongly labelled) "feminist" would try to persuade their daughter that women are somehow better. Then again, we shouldn't take nut-jobs into consideration now, should we?

Well we don't do anything about hetero parents who do that...

There's one funny thing that no one ever seems to realize. To anyone who thinks a child needs both a mother and a father:

A lot of homosexual couples have children by accident. They aren't prepared, and they don't want the kid. If a gay couple tries to adopt a child, it's because they want to. The child will be given a home with two loving parents of the same gender.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with that.
