What's new

So what are you thinking now? New thread!

  • Thread starter Thread starter Lauri
  • Start date Start date
Since we don't have that option, we should start a "flashing red light" thread. This way we could post links to threads that are heating up and if folks are bored they'd know where to look for some entertainment.

What the hell, I'll start one now. :sheep1:

The "**** you" button would complement the "thanks, you're a ****!" button I've asked for.

I was watching a Rules of Engagement rerun yesterday & at the office there was a door that slammed shut with the push of a button. Would like something similar here & also a real one installed in my house.

I think my kids caseworker is ignoring me. Now what do I do?

I told her last week that I NEED to speak to her, she told me she'd call me later. I texted her this morning to please call me today between 8:30a-4p, no response, no call. I've emailed her twice, last week & today.

I'm giving her until Wednesday & then calling the manager.

I wouldn't wait that long. I'd call first thing in the am. I hate when peeps don't return phone calls. It's her **** job.

What worked for me (and we had 2 DCFS audits for Big and 1 for DHs kids) is if they didn't answer my call, after 4 hours, I called their supervisor. If I didn't get what I wanted in 24 hours (in the case of Big), I went to the Judge. Kendall Co is pretty small, easy enough to get on the docket if you just show up and file an appearance.

Is this about The Boy's Meds? If so, I would write an email, include the recommendation from the doctor, then INFORM what action you will take. Don't ask permission or for a determination. They are "your" kids, if you decide what to do for them with conviction, it will get smoothed over. It's not like they're going to be in a big rush to come pick them up, right?

I know...but she has 15 kids to oversee, so I do cut her some slack. Usually she's good...she knows something is up, though, and I think she's avoiding me. She knows the girl is nuts, that's probably why she isn't calling me back.

ETA- Thanks, Kathy. No, it's about the Girl. Just the Girl in general. I told her last week that I am not discontinuing the boys meds if the teacher sees improvement. I knew she was in a hurry, so I asked her to PLEASE call me back to discuss some things with the Girl.

2013 sucks

Another week, another funeral. Tomorrow they are burying an old friend of the family who is also the father of my first boyfriend.

I'm sorry ennui. :pout: You sure do have quite the black cloud hanging over you and your family. I hope it passes soon.

Enjoying yet another Blackhawks hottie.

Shocked and kind of excited. DD just got a letter from DePaul. Based on her audition she made it to the final pool of applicants for Percussion Performance. I don't think they are going to give enough money though. We find out by April 1st. I think I'm more excited that WIU accepted her for Percussion Performance and Piano. They are giving her scholarship money but won't find out until mid march. Four more auditions to go. Thank you God for not making my musical child become a math teacher.

No (*&$#@(*&$( mail again today. :hb:

At 3:30 I was on the phone with the mail office. Apparently the mail person is refusing to deliver mail on our block and sending photos in every day stating that our block is "dangerous."

We live in an area with townhomes facing one another, 6 homes one one side, six on the other, separated by a sidewalk with TERRIBLE drainage.

Of course, we did not notice this before we purchased. Unincorporated area, so township has said they wont help. No association means no group to get together and make anything happen.

I think they must have given us some new curmudgeon of a postal worker or else recently gone through some sort of training warning them against "dangerous" conditions.

My kids, husband, and all the kids and families on this block leave to go to and from school/work/stores EVERY DAY and they survive.

The man on the phone was apologetic but said they have proof it is a dangerous walkway. Thing is, the drainage has been bad and there have been days on end that it is a 2-inch deep puddle and we have never, not received our mail.

He said he thought we would get mail today. I am going to call again

How can they keep our mail hostage for days!??! :mob"

I am also going to go talk to the township, maybe they will consider helping us .... I feel so frustrated about this, even though I'm relatively certain I have received no mail of interest since last Wednesday.

Although I never had mail issues, we had drainage issues at our townhouse.

In fact, in the spring when snow melted and rain was non-stop, there would be so much water that it had nowhere to go and would seep in a seam of the foundation and would flood the floor vents and would grow mold if we didn't have them cleaned when it cleared up.
And let's not mention that we had no heat bc it couldn't get through all the water. And we HAD an association and they wouldn't do ****!

I'm SOOOOOOOOO happy to be out of there!

In the winter the sidewalks were a solid sheet of ice and salt would do nothing bc it would melt, have nowhere to go, and then re-freeze.

I'm so sorry, Ennui. I hope things improve for you quickly. :huggy:

Nanny, that's awesome! Which school does your DD want to go to?

Reporter, that is ridiculous. Is there anyone higher than your local post office you can complain to?

On another note, yesterday I was old navy shopping with my sister and mom.
We were about to walk in when a man and his son(maybe? Or grandson perhaps?) we're walking in and he was screaming at this poor 8-ish year old boy.
"Shut the **** up! What the **** is your problem? Why the hell are you acting like a ****ing baby?" We were beyond stunned.

I said, "Maybe it's because of the way you're talking to him!" He said, "Don't you mind us." And kept yelling at the boy, cursing.

Meanwhile another family was walking in, looking like they are coming from church, and they had two small kids.

I said, "I am going to mind because there is no reason to speak that way to a child! And there is another family present that I'm sure don't appreciate your language."

I don't think he said anything to me, but I was still kind of shocked and my nerves got to me and I was shaking with anger. We all had to wait a few minutes to calm down before going in the store.

I wish there was something else I could do for this poor boy. I can't forget it. :pout:

This is the problem. Our sidewalks are covered with water/ice. I can put salt out but the ice will still be there because the water can't go anywhere else.

It has been this way the 5 years I've lived here and probably dozens before that. Why would the mail stop now?

Must be a new mail person. :ohreally: I see I need to train them :ohreally:

Unsure that will really work but I'll be trying. Thanks for the sympathy guys.

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. But some ice, **** it.
