Thanks, Mrsmom. I thought maybe I got the words wrong. It was 7th grade and we had class once a week at church with a "graduation" planned in church.
What is that called?
Confirmation.

THANK YOU, CharlieQ!!!!
You can tell how much it meant to me, right? lol.
Mrs Melton - You said JW's were not Christians and proceeded to compare religions on the "basics". My point was that JW's are just as much Christian as a Catholic/Lutheran/Baptist/Pentecostal/etc in regards to the basics.
The explanation for the 144,000 is found in Revelation Chapter 7

Mormons are Christians, too, for the same reason.
I didn't know Lutherans have catechism, thought it was just Catholic. So who wants to explain what catechism is to me?
Maybe I am reading this wrong, but if a priest can act as God, shouldn't they be sinless, which is not possible? Can you confess to God and not to the priest and still be ok?
 If I have to compete with Abraham, Issac, the apostles, Mary Magdeline and I assume Mary the mother of Jesus automatically gets a spot right? Wow, and then King David..oh and the thiefs at the cross, I take it the majority of the ones at the sermon on the mount get a ticket...this is really not looking goodout:
When another friend was having a Birthday Party, he came but it was an UnBirthday Party so his parents would allow him to come. No decorations, etc.
In my head Reincarnation would fit right into the 144,000 people that go to heaven. Just pulling two totally different concepts and shoving them together though.
What's wrong with that? The birthday child & his/her parents sound like very loving tolerant human beings who have solid values, namely that their child spending his special day with a good friend was more important than a bunch of decorative frills. So the parents of the B-day child called it an UN Birthday and had no decorations, JUST so the J.W child could attend????
Right where I am now, many of my neighbors, classmates and colleagues are Muslims (60% of the populations are Muslims). I would like to think God fearing Muslims are going to find favor with God rather than Christians in name.:hides::hides:
That said, nobody can tell who is or who isn't, nobody is in the position to judge except God himself.

BTW, do you know that not too long ago, most American birthday parties consisted of a cake, candles, friends/family, party games, & sometimes, but not always, gifts. Party stores selling ton of disposable decorative crap hadn't been invented. Parties were just as fun & much less expensive.

why does he humor him? i always wonder this. my hubby would love to humor the mormons when they visit, and i would rather they be able to move on to the next door and perhaps find someone really interested. drives me crazy. sometimes i think hubs just likes to hone his biblical skills. maybe?Wow...how upset would you be if you read this statement?
"Why? I've always known this about Lutheran peeps and I still think it's whackado."
MY JW story....we have a JW guy. ROFL. He comes every week or 2 and visits dh. DH has NO interest in converting. Won't happen. EVER. BUT they still come. Sometimes they bring MORE people to look at and talk to dh.
I don't even answer the door when they come...but my dh humors them.
A place to debate everything and anything!
