    Request Slips

30 singers is a slow night around here.. our Friday night show regularly has a list of 50 or more individual singers. For this reason, we have to start sign up almost 1 hour early... we run a 5 hour show. you know how pissed they get when someone shows up at 9:05 for a 9:00 show and...

    Request Slips

Though I haven't used Slips in over 8 years, I used to have custom post-it pads printed up.. they're dirt cheap to get 1000 pads made, and they stick to the table, wall, or whatever... That being said, why are you guys still using slips? Aside from the disc dinosaurs who are afraid of thos...

The Luddite Enters The 21st Century?.....

I just put the velcro on the 2 inner rails of where the tire goes in.. That's all it takes.. You cannot tip it over, as it's just too low to the ground. I've lost a couple monitors in the last 6 years due to someone physically falling on it, but a regular stand Wouldn't have prevented...

The Luddite Enters The 21st Century?.....

Why don't you guys finally ditch the ugly lollipop looking karaoke monitors and slim the profile down a ton? I've been using these with flat screens for about the last 6 years, and they have both held up great, and singers love them, because they're not standing behind a huge tv on a tripod...

    Karaoke Rentals? Really?

The only way to truly protect your collection is to use RoxBox and encrypt it. There is no software that can stop copying.. If the file is readable, it's copyable, with no exception. You can use windows encryption, but every 16 year old with a laptop knows how to beat windows encryption...

Paul, I have like 8 of those k world units.. they're clean, cheap and work like a dream..... USB is only for supplying the 5 volts it needs to operate.

Hosting Karaoke with new desktop PC

Hi Paul, I use the IN1776.. I think it might be discontinued now, but there always seems to be one on ebay... Like I said, I'm a huge fan of the grandtec converters too.. I just like the extrons, because I often need to use RGB outputs instead of composite, as the Composite port is often...

Hosting Karaoke with new desktop PC

Also, for the VGA to RCA conversion, I use a broadcast quality Extron converter.. You can find them on ebay for $80 all the time.. Most of my rigs are using the Grandtec converter, and it's clear as a whistle until you start adding sheer footage to the run. I now pretty much run...

Hosting Karaoke with new desktop PC

I'm for the Desktops for myself, because I have a truck with a lift gate, and don't have to ever lift anything.. My guys are now getting the little Asus Aspire One Lappy as their Karaoke / VDJ machine. I take them apart, and replace the drive with a 500 gb sata drive, and then lock the...

    Beta-testers needed for a new karaoke hoster/player I'm developing

Can I still get in on this? I run over 1200 weekly karaoke shows a year, and have beta tested PCDJ, Sax N Dotty, Roxbox, Kjams Pro, Virtual DJ, and several other apps. I'm always looking for something better than what I use (I am thotoughly satisfied with roxbox) But I'd love to be involved...

    Discontinued List?

I purchased the entire foundation, and spotlight series from front to back a couple years back in one big $18,000.00 order ... I can look at the receipt and tell you all of the ones that were no longer available... there's only a few...

For KJs Who Still Use CDg's

Joe, I can't remember the last customer that brought an oscilloscope to my show, but now I'll be on the lookout! and I'm sorry, but I can't resist.... Why would someone who is so concerned about fidelity use a big yellow sponge ball on his mic? they're far from acoustically transparent...

For KJs Who Still Use CDg's

Chuck, are you kidding me? You need to be on computer based karaoke... I'm not offering, due to your location, but I build turnkey Karaoke systems for guys about once a month.. even the biggest hold outs call me a week later and tell me how they'll never touch a disk again... I also do...

    Golden Rules of Karaoke

I have to disagree on a few of those.... Not counting my DJ work, I make well over $160K a year running Karaoke. I have 24 shows a week going, and have not lost a single show in 10 years. I've had bars close, or burn down, but to date, no bar has ever let us go... The average Kj in town is...
