The parade I saw last year was just that, a parade. People flying rainbow streamers, dancing happily, and singing village people songs. LOL There were no blatant kissing or anything really offensive. There were straight people wearing "Straight but not narrow" t-shirts as well.
It was fine by me, and I didn't have to shield my daughter against any of it.

I am not gay...but man would I like a wife. I want someone to cook, clean, do my laundry and listen about my day! I want to wake up and find the coffee started. I want to casually mention in the morning how nice it would be to have ABC for dinner then find it on the table that night.
I don't want to sleep with her....just think having a wife beats the heck outta having a husband.

You DO know that isn't the majority, right?
Ooooh, he could have a parade since he is a minority!!!![/quote]
I'm sick of all so called groups getting extra priviliges.Jesse Jackson(such a hyprocite) calling on the Rainbow coalition etc. to get out the black vote.If someone running for elected office said"Get out the white vote". They'd be crucified in the media. We don't need Gay Pride day or any other special days for any groups.(imo).
Don't have to be gay, become a polygamist :giggles:I am not gay...but man would I like a wife. I want someone to cook, clean, do my laundry and listen about my day! What he said.It seems to me you still have some unresolved issues that are just simmering in the background. Your post is seasoned with anger.
The reason why we have these parades is because we are not there yet. We don't have equality across the board. These parades are there to remind us of that. Of course some of the more bitter people can take it too far (on either side). But without having these parades it would almost be like just accepting life for what it is rather than trying to make it better.
Eventually it will equal out for these groups. Their parades may still march on, but instead of promoting power they should promote awareness of the history. So we do not repeat these crimes of ignorance.

Ummmm I'm not so sure I need to know the personal histories on this one :giggles:

What he said.
The gay teen living a closeted life in Podunk, USA shouldn't have to feel all alone and hopeless. They shouldn't be afraid of telling their friends and especially not their families. They shouldn't be afraid of being kicked out of the family home. They shouldn't be afraid of rejection by their parents.
But too many are. Too many kids kill themselves because their families reject them, or they are convinced that their families would.
It should not happen.
You DO know that isn't the majority, right?

Ok and now that I've added my witty sense of humor
Do you happen to have pictures of the parades held by women back in the day when we fought for equal rights? Did the slaves hold parades? If so I'd love to see pics....history is interesting to a certain extent....
Though I am still confused how dressing in drag, being extremely sexually explicit on the streets where children are, and making huge obnoxious spectacles help one to obtain equal rights....I kind of think it just makes one look like a jackass as they make a mockery of themselves and others they claim to "represent". And again I have NO PROBLEMS with "gay people".

This thread is a prime example of one where I want to express my opinions, but am afraid of what others will say to me. I want to stand up for my beliefs, but I have avoidant personality disorder and don't take criticism well. I will say that I have liked the gay people that I have known (including my uncle), and that I try to leave judgement up to God. Also, we are all guilty of sin, including myself, of course. I've told you guys about some of that.
