I wouldn't say their a waste of money, but the price is high right now.
It's a reality new technology, the price will drop over the next 3-5 years.
We recycle and try to do as much as we can to reduce our carbon footprint, going with a hybrid is a natural move, but the price needs to drop a bit first.

More like drop out in the next 3-5 years. When are these idiot marketers who promote those cars going to understand they can't mass produce them. If it hasn't caught on by now, it won't ever. The fact gas-powered cars dont burn clean (at all) is completely false. When you take a well-oiled high horsepower car to let's say, a Toyota Prius. That high powered car will show on reciepts from gas that it's more efficient.

My next door neighbor works at a Toyota dealer and he said they're crap. More people trade them in and go back to something more traditional. You need to take into account that a lot folks don't like change..hybrids and electric powered cars are a crock. I mean since when was it cool to say to your friends "I got an electric powered car!" and then they ask "Let's see what's under the hood" and you're like "well..it's no big block."<< I rest my case

OH some of the fastest motorcycles right now are electric...and they are awesome.

Well mine isn't electric. they can keep those..I like to hear my exhaust and bike switch gears..thank you very much. That's the whole point of owning one..

again, "new technology" of course there are going to be some issues :desire:
We know a few ppl that have hybrid cars and they haven't had any problems, they're just a bit pricey for us atm.
I'd love to get 32 MPG vs the 19-20 that we get with our Equinox.

The future is near, you can even make electricity with the wind :tremble:

Yes the sound is much more important then efficiency and saving natural resources.

Well they're not going to take away my gas powered vehicles. No way. I just cant agree with owning one..I need to hear an engine rev, I need to hear my gears shift I want to be in control of my engine..and not have some weeny little electric motor power my car..Let those greeners keep that mess.

You did see the car I posted on the last page right? It has 500hp and does 0-60 in under 5 seconds. If that is 'weeny'...well I don't know what to say lol

Indeed, wind power is so commonplace here in Europe, you see wind turbines (I call them windmills lol, b/c they look similar) everywhere. Plus, wind turbines are comparatively cheap, so everyone who has some land purchases a few ... you can make money with it by providing excess electricity into the power grid. :glasses-cool:

I actually thing it is 'un-American' to not strive to be the best and lead the way forward,,instead of looking back and saying that our archaic way of thinking is right.

It is time to move forward not move in reverse.

I want to get one so bad. I also want to outfit the roof with solar panels. Why not CHARGE the electric company for MY energy :)

Oh, come on! That's a DB series Aston Martin. If they ever made an electric motor for that car I think they should all be castrated! hah. If that's a hybrid I will lose complete and total respect from them. I dont care how much horsepower! That should be a sacrilege! My GTO has 450 and it costs a fraction of what that does. For the record..you can't call a newer car a "hybrid" even if the PCM has been chipped/modified and what have you. I'm talking about the weak and disgusting Toyota Prius or Honda Insight. It's beyond me how anyone can find those to be a good looking car much less try to look cool driving one.

http://www.teslamotors.com/ Tesla is another great example of what electric cars could become. How could someone not like a Tesla?

When more people realize that Oil is not the future the price will drop on vehicles like these.

I would never say you should give it away, I know how fun a nice car can be, you're entitled to enjoy it. :)

We've looked into them :)
We're good friends with a few electricians. :thunder:

Nope not a DB. Lightning...

No thanks.

So let me guess you would take say... a lotus instead of the Tesla right? They look pretty much the same...only the electric car is overall a better vehicle.

There was a German movie (a bit sci-fi) once (from the 80ies I think) about a car inventor who wanted to build the fastest electric car there is. And they invented all that technology and stuff in the movie (like the battery system etc.), and that guy rode around in his 155 mph electric car that looked like a genuine sports car ... somehow that whole Tesla motors thing reminds me of that! :)

I hope that Tesla will be successful in providing electric sports cars! :)

BTW, I think there's also a lot that can be improved in electric motors themselves ... create a two-part motor with only electro magnets and control the current using a computer-controlled, high-speed modulated electric signal through the electro magnets, and efficiency should rise by orders of magnitude... :)

Well in your opinion it is..Not everyone is going to agree with that..I would take neither. It's not an appealing car to me and that car costs 101,000 grand base price..if I'm gonna spend that kind of money (if I had the dollars) i'd buy something like a Shelby Super Snake or Corvette ZR1. Something that's gas powered.

Lol it does sound like tesla haha

On that point..that actually sounds like I think the first gen prius engine. Their first gen engine was based off something like that I think. Someone held the patient on it so they had to stop using it. From what I can remember it was much more efficient also.

I have a high-horsepower car, and the fuel mileage isn't that good, I don't know what you consider high horsepower, or efficient, but a Prius definitely beats me in that area. And the last person's opinion I'd take on a vehicle is a salesman at a dealership, these guys don't know or care about cars, they're no different than real estate or shoe sales people. I don't know what year your Goat is, but if you have one of the newer Holden Monaro GTOs, you don't have a big block, either. It sounds like you're a Chevy Volt expert, what else don't you like about it?
