What's new

so what are you thinking right now?

Very thankful DS is with me full time.

Police/ambulance were at ex's apartment yesterday. Long story very short and still finding more out. 2 year old left in ambulance after injesting drain cleaner an hour before the call. I just don't understand how....

After the horse incident last week I know nothing should surprise me anymore.

who was the 2yr old and why were they with your ex?

did you get lab results back yet on horse feed? how is your horse??

I'm going to post this here because if I put it on Facebook my dh will kill me. :quiet:

So getting ready to leave the hotel in Bloomington on Sunday. Kids are in the room packing up, dh went down to drop some bags in the car. I followed dh down but about 10 minutes behind him. I get to the lobby and head to the door. Well, the car is parked right outside but no dh. I'm looking around because i have no keys to get into the car. I turn around and there he is with his hands on the glass of the "pool" area behind a double, double set of locked doors. He was locked in . I was wondering why he didn't come back up. If you know me, you would know I was cracking up. It was actually peaceful with him underglass if only for a few moments. There was a little red button 3 feet off the floor on the wall next to door to release the door. He was afraid to push it because it was red. He thought it would sound an alarm. I wonder how long he would have stayed in there if it was the night before and I already went to bed. He always keeps me laughing.

This morning he says, if you think that was funny I'm not telling you the two things I already did yesterday. Not feeding you more ammo.

I would say he is getting dumber as the years go on, but we both know, he is the gift that just keeps on giving! He has been an **** for a very long time.

I got 3, 8 ft. tall banana trees today at Costco. They had them on sale for $11.99!!! $50.00 or more at Home Depot! :cartwheel:

The irony - you can grow your own blizzard bananas but you're no longer in blizzard country. :giggles:

You can encourage him to think and help him work on his fluency. Why does it have to be all or nothing? Timed tests are going to be part of his life unless you home school or get him an IEP.

They are pushing his speed hard at school... So, it is getting worked on.

At home I am working with him on depth. He does some reading on his own...Which is more of the easier stuff and our reading time we have a dictionary in hand.

I also push him to make it legible... He tries to do it fast and it is sloppy. I'm not interested in fast over sloppy.

So he is getting both.

The $50/$100 for Home Depot couldn't have come at a better time. Dad bought my Christmas present early at HD and paid ful price. I picked it up, immediately returned it for store credit and re-bought with a coupon. Now I still have $50+ in store credit and another $50/$100 to use. What to buy?

Front door lock needs replacing and I still have to replace the bathroom door handle I smashed to pieces when Lex locked himself in. The then garage door needs some parts plus there is one more toilet than needs its innards replaced. The list is too long.

Then it should work out just fine. Doing things to work on his speed at home shouldn't mean you have to dumb it down. Andrew does fantastic at timed tests. He likes doing them but his reading comprehension is what we are working on. He reads at a much higher level, but ask him what he read he will tell you, I don't know. He knows the words, but just wants to get done with it. Trying to get him to slow down and think about things more.

It's funny b/c alot of the time I would prefer for my own time constraints to just go for speed. Billy is a big "what does this mean" kid. He has always been one to want to really disect things... Whether it is take something apart to see how it works or asking about meaning in lyrics, books, etc. Sometimes it's like........ UGH kid! I got to a point where I tell him...google it. Then we search the results togther for an appropriate answer.

I finally found books that really grab his interest and he WANTS to read. He has no interest in the slower stuff. He loves dinosaur books.... RIGHT! Who the heck can even read those names. :gah:
And now Skylanders. He loves Skylanders and they are challenging. We can take 5 minutes to read 1 sentence and look up all the definitions and then re-read with knowing the definitions and then re-read paraphrasing with easier, more everyday words. That is how we have satisfied his need for comprehension/understanding.

Andrew is into Pokemon. He doesn't know about Skylanders. This is on purpose. He is like his father in a "gotta catch em all" way. He would want to get ALL of the figures. So we decided that we were not bringing Skylanders to his attention.

He will read and he understands it, but most of the time he wants to get done with reading for school so he can do something else. When he reads before bed to relax, he generally reads slower and pays more attention. mainly because he doesn't want to go to bed. Andrew asks a lot of questions, but unless it's about a subject he likes, he will try to get through it fast.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is how I do it cuz I know if I try the other way... He will have ZERO interest no matter what he is reading! Too funny!

Please find out and then come back here and tell us!

I'm not sure he will give it up unless he gets sleepy and starts answering questions. Wait until I show you guys what he did to a pair of my shoes that have only been worn 2x and really cute..let's just say if you're going to closet eat, you should use a plate to catch the crumbs. Cookies with butter in them, like peanut butter cookies leave grease spots on leather. :pout:

I won't pick on ed just yet...sorta.. but i will say.. if you're ever too lazy to get out of your car and move you're kids little tykes picknick table set and choose to try to go OVER it, it will not buff out like a scratch in the paint on your car. Now it's for really really little tykes.

Dude had to do an emergency c-section but I went home and came back and then he was there w/in 25 min. Demanded an ultrasound and told him I don't care about lack of insurance...at this point they can take me to court cuz I got no money honey....so I call to set it up on the phone and the gal was like the financial dept. of the hospital will be calling you to talk about this! I was like, go ahead, make my day...I got nothin' left sweetheart! Here's hoping I finally get some answers...soonest they can get me in is Mon. What's a few more days when I've been waiting this long!
