I'm tired. Grand-babies are sick and I spent the night last night and helped out today. Ethan has strep & Zachary has a cold. Daughters been to the doctor 3 times this week. I truly believe Ethan got strep at the doctors office. He was there Monday for his 2 year check up and was totally fine then got sick Tuesday. Doctor did say today he has had 15 cases. Adding one more.
And now this Grammy has been sneezing all day and feels stuffy.I'm taking some NyQuil and going to bed.
Hey canadia. I was listening to the radio today (WGN) and they were talking about how Americans know nothing about Canada and nothing is taught in schools and it's so true. So a Canadian lady called up and said their campain time is only (was it 30 days?)
I have no idea who the person is who leads your country either. :9:
Why would we expect Americans to know anything about Canada... they barely know anything about their OWN country :surrender:
I was just reading the Bloggess--because she's fabulous and twisted and makes me smile--and wondering why I never receive red ball gowns in the mail. OK, maybe not never--but not for years and years...

True.
DD13 is learning about Canada right now. If you've read my post on my parent's visiting day visit yesterday, you'll see that I even made one little **** who didn't want to stand for the canadian anthem stand.
Back in the day, part of our elementary school/ junior high school social studies curriculum was "world events." When I got to HS I was surprised we didnt' do that anymore. It would take all of 10 minutes a week for a social studies teacher to have a "current events" recap of what has happened in the world that week.
Part of the fault lies with the USA education system, but it also lies with the USA broadcasters as well. As a child in school we were taught world history, as opposed to USA history but as an adult the nightly news would be world focused, rather than USA focused.
You can't know something when the information isn't given to you and you don't know that you are only being given a small fraction of a much larger picture. I learn more about what is going on in the world when my non-USA friends post on Facebook then by watching USA news broadcasts or reading USA news papers.
When I was home at Christmas I spent a long time getting caught up on Jack Layton (leader of the opposition who died of cancer while in office) and what he meant to all Canadians. His death didn't even make the news here. Things like this should.
why did the youth decline to stand for the canadian anthem? (sounds like an intro for a.....why did the chicken cross the road joke< not)DD13 is learning about Canada right now.
